Job summary

NACOSMarine in Denmark is seeking a Senior Service Engineer (Automation) to program, commission, and support IAS/IAMCS and SCADA solutions on vessels, including cruise ships and large commercial ships.

You will work with shipowners, shipyards, and internal engineering teams to deliver high-quality automations across new builds, refits, upgrades, and warranty activities, with travel and onboard assignments as required.

Qualifications

• Experience with industrial automation systems and SCADA software.
• PLC programming across IEC61131-3 standards (ST/LD/FBD).
• Strong troubleshooting across automation software, electronics, and networks.
• Experience with marine/common industrial communication protocols (Modbus, NMEA, OPC, Profibus).
• Willingness to travel internationally and work onboard vessels.

Responsibilities

• Perform commissioning, service, refits, and upgrades of marine automation and SCADA systems.
• Support FAT, HAT, and sea trials, including onboard commissioning activities.
• Diagnose and resolve complex issues during service execution.
• Develop, modify, and standardize PLC/SCADA software for in-house and onboard use.
• Handle warranty cases for new builds and retrofits, including remote and onsite support.
• Prepare and maintain technical documentation such as functional descriptions and drawings.
• Support class compliance activities and handovers to owners and yards.
• Communicate professionally with customers and stakeholders during projects.

Key Requirements

• Solidhands-onexperiencewithindustrialautomation,SCADAsystems,andPLCprogramming(IEC61131-3:ST,LD,FBD,etc.)
• Strongtroubleshootingskillsacrossautomationsoftware,electronics,andindustrialnetworks
• Experiencewithcommonmarineandindustrialcommunicationprotocols(e.g.Modbus,NMEA,OPC,Profibus)
• Comfortableworkingonboardvesselsandtravelinginternationallyforserviceandcommissioningactivities
• FluentinDanishandEnglish,bothwrittenandspoken

• Valid driver's license
