Job summary

Zealand Pharma A/S seeks a Principal Research Data Architect to lead the data foundation powering AI-driven drug discovery. You will own and evolve the research data platform, govern metadata and lineage, and collaborate with AI/ML, computational chemistry, and IT to enable analytics and agentic workflows.

You will shape architecture across legacy systems and cloud platforms, guiding vendors and cross-functional teams toward end-to-end ownership of the ecosystem as it matures.

Qualifications

• Extensive experience designing research or scientific data architectures, ideally in drug discovery.
• Hands-on with Benchling or similar LIMS/ELN and requirements engineering (URS/FRS).
• Strong grounding in semantic technologies: ontologies, vocabularies, knowledge graphs.
• Experience with cloud lakehouse platforms (Databricks) and data pipelines feeding analytics and AI/ML.
• Proven ability to lead a team and drive delivery across vendors and cross-functional stakeholders.

Responsibilities

• Own the research data model and extend it to new assay types.
• Lead migration of legacy assay data into the new foundation.
• Build the semantic layer adapting ontologies and vocabularies for governed use.
• Own data governance: metadata, lineage, reference data as foundation for downstream use.
• Architect the research data lake and knowledge graphs for analytics and AI.
