Job summary

Microchip Technology Inc. is seeking a Senior-II Engineer-Validation to join the Networking and Connectivity Solutions Validation Team.

You will drive validation strategies for high-speed devices including Ethernet, USB 3.2, PCI Express, and Automotive Ethernet PHYs, ensuring robust lab-based validation and collaboration across Design, Applications, Marketing, and Product Engineering. Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Electrical Engineering or related discipline.
  • 7+ years combined experience in High-Speed Digital design/testing, Analog/Mixed-Signal design/testing, Systems design/testing, Power IC Design and/or Test.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.
  • Strong organization skills and ability to develop hardware design specifications based on input from multiple stakeholders.

Responsibilities

  • Participate in development and execution of validation strategies and test plans aligned with product requirements, technical risk, customer impact, program schedules, and market needs.
  • Perform lab-based validation, including design bring-up, characterization, and interoperability testing for high-speed connectivity devices.
  • Review, analyze, and clearly communicate validation results, debug findings, and recommendations to project and management stakeholders.
  • Contribute to the specification and design of test environments including software, lab equipment, and test board requirements.
  • Serve as a cross-functional validation contributor, collaborating closely with Design, Verification, Applications, Marketing and Product Engineering teams.
  • Contribute to cross-functional debug and root-cause discussions along with operating on JIRA-based debug workflows.
  • Support customer issue reproduction and escalations by collaborating with Applications and Field Engineering teams.

Job Description

Microchip products are at the heart of millions of consumer devices and networks, and we are looking for an exceptional person to join our team as a Senior-II Engineer-Validation. A candidate placed in this position will be a technical contributor in the Networking and Connectivity Solutions Validation Team, focused on bringing advanced connectivity devices to market, including Ethernet switches, USB 3.2 hubs, PCI Express devices and switches, Automotive Ethernet PHY’s, and other connectivity interfaces in excess of 25Gbps.

Responsibilities have include:

  • Participate in development and execution of validation strategies and test plans aligned with product requirements, technical risk, customer impact, program schedules, and market needs
  • Perform lab-based validation, including design bring-up, characterization, and interoperability testing for high-speed connectivity devices
  • Review, analyze, and clearly communicate validation results, debug findings, and recommendations to project and management stakeholders
  • Contribute to the specification and design of test environments including software, lab equipment, and test board requirements
  • Serve as a cross-functional validation contributor, collaborating closely with Design, Verification, Applications, Marketing and Product Engineering teams
  • Contribute to cross-functional debug and root-cause discussions along with operating on JIRA-based debug workflows
  • Support customer issue reproduction and escalations by collaborating with Applications and Field Engineering teams
  • Contribute to continuous improvement of validation processes, metrics, and best practices
Requirements/Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s or master’s degree in Electrical Engineering or related discipline.
  • 7+ Years combined experience in one or more of the following: High-Speed Digital design/testing) Analog/Mixed-Signal design/testing Systems design/testing Power IC Design and/or Test
  • Prior experience working within cross functional teams and projects
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.
  • Strong organization skills and the ability to develop hardware design specification based on input from multiple stakeholders and specifications.
  • Strong working knowledge of Electronics Lab equipment, e.g., Oscilloscope, Logic Analyzer, Protocol Analyzer (any protocol)
  • Must be self-motivated and able to work in collaborative group environment or independently.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Understanding of, and experience with, high-speed connectivity protocols, including, Ethernet, USB (USB 2.0 / USB 3.x), or PCI-Express
  • Experience reviewing schematics and layouts for silicon validation or reference boards
  • Python-based automation for validation, data analysis, or lab equipment control
  • Exposure to IC device characterization and silicon performance analysis
