Job summary

Orsted Hornsea Project Four Limited is seeking a quantitative developer to build and refine core market models for short- and mid-term analysis in energy markets. You will combine Python development with a passion for energy trading to deliver scalable models used by trading and commercial teams.

You will collaborate closely with analysts, traders, and platform teams to ensure high-quality data-driven insights and governance of models and assumptions.

Qualifications

• Background in quantitative development, engineering, economics, or similar.
• Deep knowledge of European gas markets.
• Write scalable, well-tested Python code and apply modern development practices.
• Familiar with version control, CI/CD, and collaborative software development.
• Work confidently with data, including time series analysis, SQL, and data visualization tools.
• Motivated to build expertise in energy markets and translate it into models.
• Communicate clearly and work effectively both independently and as part of a team.

Responsibilities

• Develop and improve core gas supply and demand models to enable trading and portfolio management.
• Develop and improve gas and power market models for supply-demand and price formation.
• Integrate drivers such as weather, fuel prices, outages, and interconnector flows into models.
• Ensure model outputs reflect market behaviour across short- and mid-term horizons.
• Improve model governance, monitoring performance, and keep assumptions and data up to date.
• Collaborate with traders, analysts, and developers to deliver actionable insights and recommendations.
