Job summary

Novo Nordisk is seeking a Sr Downstream Scientist to advance synthetic peptide processes from development to large-scale manufacturing at CMOs. You will guide transfer, implementation and batch execution for downstream purification and drying, ensuring robust science at scale and maintaining documentation, validation and regulatory submissions.

The role collaborates with MSAT and cross-functional teams, requiring MSc/PhD, GMP experience, and ability to travel ~20%.

Qualifications

• MSc or PhD in chemical/biochemical sciences or chemical engineering.
• Extensive downstream purification experience for peptide- or protein-based therapeutics.
• Experience with scale-up and transfer to large-scale manufacturing.
• GMP experience in cGMP-regulated environments.
• Knowledge of chromatography and filtration unit operations.
• Solution-oriented, translating theory into workable technical fixes.
• Strong communication and cross-functional collaboration.
• Willingness to travel approximately 20% of the time.

Responsibilities

• Provide stewardship during process transfer, process development and batch execution at CMOs.
• Lead characterization work for downstream purification and drying steps.
• Own deliverables in cross-organisational groups for transfer, batch execution and validation.
• Troubleshoot process execution at CMOs, assess changes and deviations.
• Act as process and product SME in cross-functional projects and finalise technical documentation.
• Author, co-author and review regulatory registration documents.
