Lunar is a Nordic challenger bank building the future of financial life with AI. As our new DevOps Engineer you’ll join Squad Matrix based in Copenhagen, reporting to Jesper, to govern the data platform and support data workloads.

You’ll focus on infrastructure, deployment, observability, and automation so the platform stays reliable and scalable for a million users across the Nordics.

Qualifications

• Experience running Kubernetes in production for stateful or distributed systems.
• Comfort with Infrastructure as Code, CI/CD tooling and GitOps.
• Solid understanding of observability and production reliability.
• Experience with cloud infrastructure and building internal tooling or automation that other engineers actually use.
• Experience operating stateful or data-intensive distributed systems — e.g., streaming engines or large-scale data processing.
• Genuine interest in the data infrastructure space and running data systems at scale.

Responsibilities

• Build and maintain data Kubernetes capabilities for workloads like Flink, Kafka, and distributed databases.
• Create standardised CI/CD pipelines, GitOps workflows and deployment automation.
• Own observability and reliability for the data platform — metrics, tracing, dashboards, SLOs and automated health checks.
• Reduce manual operations through infrastructure automation and internal tooling.
• Partner with data platform engineers to extend shared foundations for data-intensive, stateful workloads.

As our new DevOps Engineer you'll join Squad Matrix based in Copenhagen, reporting to Jesper, working to build Lunar's governed self-service data platform alongside our data platform and analytics engineers.

Matrix owns Hubble, the internal data platform that makes data usable across Lunar. Your focus won't be on building pipelines or analytical products. It'll be on the infrastructure, deployment mechanisms and operational capabilities those systems depend on. You'll make running data workloads feel like a well-engineered platform rather than a collection of individually operated systems.

What will you do?

• Build and maintain data-specific Kubernetes capabilities for workloads like Flink, Kafka, and distributed databases — including operators, lifecycle management, storage integrations and workload isolation

• Create standardised CI/CD pipelines, GitOps workflows and deployment automation so engineers can build, test and ship data infrastructure with confidence

• Own observability and reliability for the data platform — metrics, tracing, dashboards, SLOs and automated health checks that make production understandable and operable

• Reduce manual operations through infrastructure automation, data-specific Infrastructure as Code and internal tooling that solves common problems once at the platform level

• Partner with data platform engineers and the wider platform organisation to extend shared foundations for data-intensive, stateful workloads — so the rest of the team can focus on building data capabilities rather than maintaining infrastructure

What are we looking for in you?

• Experience running Kubernetes in production, particularly for stateful or distributed systems

• Comfort with Infrastructure as Code, CI/CD tooling and GitOps — you've built automated, repeatable infrastructure workflows before

• Solid understanding of observability and production reliability — you know how to make systems diagnosable, not just running

• Experience with cloud infrastructure and building internal tooling or automation that other engineers actually use

• Experience operating stateful or data-intensive distributed systems — things like streaming engines, distributed databases, or large-scale data processing frameworks

• A genuine interest in the data infrastructure space — you want to solve the operational and reliability challenges that come with running data systems at scale, not just Kubernetes in general
