Job summary

Velux Deutschland Gmbh is seeking a Senior Data & AI Platform Engineer to design, build and operate scalable data and AI platforms. You will own core platform capabilities and work hands-on with Snowflake, dbt, Python and modern AI infrastructure to empower teams across the organisation.

You will collaborate with data engineers, AI solutions partners and scientists to deliver secure, cost-efficient data products and AI solutions, while shaping platform architecture and governance in a hybrid

Qualifications

• 5+ years of experience designing, building and operating production-grade data platforms.
• Deep expertise in Snowflake and dbt.
• Strong Python skills and experience with SQL, Infrastructure as Code and CI/CD practices.
• Experience with modern AI and LLM infrastructure, such as model gateways, retrieval systems and agent frameworks.
• Understand data mesh principles, semantic modelling and data contracts.
• Experience supporting large numbers of users while balancing reliability, security and cost efficiency.
• Enjoy collaborating with and mentoring other engineers and technical stakeholders.
• Structured and pragmatic approach to solving complex technical challenges.

Responsibilities

• Build, operate and continuously evolve our Snowflake and dbt-based Data Platform to enable teams to develop, deploy and operate data products and AI applications.
• Design and develop core Data & AI platform capabilities, including Cortex Agents, AI governance, observability, security, access management and developer experience.
• Define platform architecture, engineering standards and best practices across the Data & AI landscape.
• Drive reliability, scalability and cost optimisation across Data and AI workloads, including FinOps initiatives and platform governance.
• Coach and support Data Engineers and AI Solutions Partners by promoting reusable building blocks, platform patterns and engineering best practices.
