Job summary

Vattenfall is seeking a Cloud Architect to design and shape our cloud and infrastructure strategy, focusing on Microsoft Azure to enable scalable, secure, and future-ready solutions across our international business.

You will guide cloud standards, governance, and architecture while supporting cloud-native development and migrations, contributing to our digital transformation journey and energy transition.

Qualifications

  • 7+ years of experience designing and implementing cloud infrastructure solutions.
  • Extensive hands-on experience with Microsoft Azure.
  • Curious mindset and enthusiasm for exploring new technologies and innovative solutions.
  • Excellent communication skills and the ability to build strong relationships across diverse stakeholder groups.

Responsibilities

  • Design, develop and govern enterprise-grade cloud platforms and infrastructure on Azure.
  • Define architecture standards, reference architectures and governance for cloud adoption.
  • Support migration of business-critical apps to Azure using modern architectural principles.
  • Design and implement Azure Landing Zones, management group structures and policy-based governance.
  • Collaborate with application teams, security specialists and external partners for scalable, secure solutions.
  • Drive cloud security initiatives based on Zero Trust and Microsoft security frameworks.
  • Contribute to hybrid platform architectures integrating Azure, SAP ERP, Kafka and other technologies.
  • Advise stakeholders on cloud strategy, technology choices and roadmaps.
  • Promote operational excellence, automation and continuous improvement across cloud landscape.

Your role

As Cloud Architect at Vattenfall, you will guide the design and evolution of cloud and infrastructure solutions, with a strong focus on Microsoft Azure. You will help shape enterprise-wide cloud standards, governance frameworks and architecture principles while supporting both cloud-native development and the migration of existing applications.

This is an opportunity to influence cloud adoption at scale, work with modern enterprise technologies and contribute directly to Vattenfall's digital transformation journey.

Key responsibilities
  • Designing, developing and governing enterprise-grade cloud platforms and infrastructure solutions in Microsoft Azure
  • Defining architecture standards, reference architectures and best practices for cloud adoption

Qualifications

Who are you? You are an experienced cloud professional who enjoys collaborating across teams and transforming complex technical challenges into practical and sustainable solutions. You combine deep technical expertise with strong communication skills and can explain cloud concepts to both technical and non-technical audiences.

  • At least 7 years of experience designing and implementing cloud infrastructure solutions
  • Extensive hands-on experience with Microsoft Azure
  • A curious mindset and enthusiasm for exploring new technologies and innovative solutions
  • Excellent communication skills and the ability to build strong relationships across diverse stakeholder groups
Cloud Security Expertise
  • Strong understanding of Azure networking, identity management and cloud security
  • Experience guiding enterprise-scale application migrations to Azure
  • Experience implementing Azure Security Baselines and secure-by-design architectures
  • Experience applying Zero Trust Architecture principles
  • Practical knowledge of Entra ID, Azure RBAC, Privileged Identity Management (PIM) and Conditional Access
  • Understanding of cloud compliance frameworks such as ISO 27001/27002, GDPR and the EU AI Act
Frameworks & Standards
  • Experience working with Microsoft Cloud Adoption Framework ()
  • Solid knowledge of Azure governance, management groups, policies and landing zones
  • Knowledge of Azure Well-Architected Framework (), especially Security and Operational Excellence
  • Strong understanding of Microsoft Cloud Security Benchmark () and Microsoft Defender for Cloud
