Job summary

Novonesis in Bagsværd, Copenhagen, Denmark, seeks a Research Scientist to develop liquid enzyme and protein formulations from concept to commercialization. You will perform hands-on lab work, apply scientific insights, and collaborate across fermentation, recovery, formulation, production, and R&D to deliver value to customers worldwide.

Qualifications

• Master's degree or PhD in Physical Chemistry, Chemistry, Chemical Engineering, Biochemical Engineering, Biotechnology or related field.
• Strong passion for applying fundamental science to real-world challenges.
• Ability to translate insights into practical, commercially relevant solutions.
• Experience planning, designing, and executing scientific experiments.
• Strong communication and stakeholder management skills.

As part of Formulation Development, you will work in a highly engaged, multicultural, and cross‑functional agile team focused on developing enzyme and protein liquid products and their associated production processes. Working closely with colleagues across fermentation, recovery, formulation, production, marketing, application, and R&D, you will contribute to bringing new technologies and products from concept to commercialization while supporting and continuously improving our existing portfolio.

The Role & Your Impact

As a Research Scientist, you will play a key role in developing innovative liquid enzyme and protein formulations that deliver value to customers and support Novonesis' growth. This role combines scientific expertise, hands‑on laboratory work, innovation, and project leadership, allowing you to contribute across the full development lifecycle from early‑stage concept development to commercial scale‑up.

You will apply your scientific curiosity to deepen our understanding of enzyme and protein formulations and translate that knowledge into practical solutions. Working closely with colleagues across multiple functions, you will drive projects forward, support production and customers, and help bring new technologies and products to market.

What You’ll Need To Be Successful

• Master's degree or PhD in Physical Chemistry, Chemistry, Chemical Engineering, Biochemical Engineering, Biotechnology, or a related scientific discipline.
• Strong passion for applying fundamental science to solve real-world challenges.
• Ability to translate scientific insights into practical and commercially relevant solutions.
• Experience planning, designing, and executing scientific experiments.
• Strong communication, collaboration, and stakeholder management skills.

Additional Skills & Interests We Value

Experience with protein stability studies or formulation development would be an advantage, as would an interest in product scale‑up, manufacturing processes, customer support, or digital and data‑driven development approaches. These experiences are not required but may help you create value more quickly in the role.
