Job description

Project Manager — Aftersales and New Build Projects
About the role

We are looking for a structured, proactive, and customer-focused Project Manager to manage a portfolio of small to mid-size projects within Aftersales and New Build / Capital Sales. This role is ideal for someone who combines technical understanding, commercial awareness, and strong coordination skills in a fast-moving marine or industrial environment. As Project Manager, you will be responsible for planning, coordinating, and executing multiple projects in parallel, typically around 30 active projects at different stages of completion. These may include customer deliveries, upgrades, replacements, service-related projects, equipment packages, spare parts-related project scopes, and new build project commitments. You will act as the key coordination point between customers, internal sales teams, engineering, procurement, logistics, service teams, finance, suppliers, and other relevant stakeholders. Your main responsibility is to ensure that each project is delivered according to agreed scope, schedule, budget, quality expectations, and invoicing milestones. This position requires a high level of ownership, attention to detail, and the ability to manage shifting priorities while maintaining a clear overview of deadlines, risks, customer expectations, and internal commitments.

Key responsibilities
  • Manage a portfolio of small to mid-size Aftersales and New Build projects from order handover through delivery, invoicing, and closure.
  • Coordinate approximately 30 concurrent projects, ensuring clear progress across planning, procurement, documentation, logistics, customer communication, and final delivery.
  • Own project planning and follow-up, including schedules, milestones, action lists, risks, dependencies, and required stakeholder inputs.
  • Ensure projects are delivered according to agreed scope, timeline, budget, quality requirements, and customer expectations.
  • Act as the main coordination point between customers and internal stakeholders, including sales, engineering, procurement, logistics, service, finance, and suppliers.
  • Monitor project financial performance, including cost follow-up, margin awareness, change impacts, and timely invoicing according to agreed milestones.
  • Identify, upscale, and resolve project risks, delays, scope changes, and delivery issues before they negatively affect the customer or business.
  • Manage customer communication proactively and professionally, providing updates, clarifying requirements, and ensuring customer satisfaction throughout the project lifecycle.
  • Ensure compliance with internal processes, procedures, documentation standards, and project governance requirements.
  • Maintain accurate project data in relevant systems, including ERP, CRM, and project management tools, to support transparency, reporting, and project control.
About you

You are a structured and solution-oriented Project Manager who can maintain control of many moving parts at the same time. You are comfortable working in an environment where priorities may change, deadlines are important, and different stakeholders may have competing expectations. You are able to balance customer focus with internal requirements and commercial discipline. You communicate clearly, elevate issues when needed, and take ownership of follow-up until problems are resolved. You enjoy working collaboratively but are also capable of driving progress independently. To succeed in this role, you should be able to: Prioritize effectively across many concurrent projects, maintain structure and overview in a complex project portfolio, communicate clearly with both technical and non-technical stakeholders, stay calm and constructive when facing setbacks or urgent issues, build trust with customers through transparency, reliability, and professional follow-up, work with a continuous improvement mindset, balance quality, cost, delivery time, and customer satisfaction.

What you know
  • Strong technical foundation combined with experience from project execution in a marine, industrial, or technical business environment.
  • Understanding of delivering projects according to agreed scope, time, cost, quality, and customer expectations.
  • A bachelor’s degree in Marine Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or another relevant technical field — or equivalent practical experience.
  • Minimum 5 years of experience from project management, project coordination, technical sales support, service project execution, marine engineering, shipbuilding, or a similar technical industry.
  • Technical understanding of marine, mechanical, process, or industrial equipment.
  • Experience working with customers, suppliers, and internal stakeholders in a project-driven environment.
  • Good commercial understanding, including cost follow-up, budget awareness, delivery commitments, and invoicing milestones.
  • Strong organizational skills and the ability to manage several projects simultaneously.
  • Good knowledge of Microsoft Office and experience working with ERP, CRM, or project management systems.
  • Strong communication skills in English, both written and spoken.
It is an advantage if you also have
  • Practical experience from vessels, shipyards, marine service, offshore, or shipbuilding environments.
  • Experience with Aftersales, service projects, retrofit projects, spare parts projects, or capital equipment deliveries.
  • Understanding of logistics, procurement, technical documentation, commissioning, or marine customer requirements.
  • Experience working in a global organization with cross-border stakeholders.
