Job summary

Aarhus University invites applications for a 36-month Postdoctoral Research Fellow position focused on Human-Centered AI for Data Visualization. The role is on-site at the Department of Computer Science in Aarhus and is funded by CA3.

The starting date is 15 November 2026 or as soon as possible thereafter. The successful candidate will lead projects at the intersection of data visualization, HCAI, and HCI, develop AI-assisted visualization tools, and collaborate with CA3 researchers, publishing

Qualifications

Ph.D. in computer science, informatics, or a closely related field by the start date.
Strong publication record in data visualization, visual analytics, HCI, or human-centered AI.
Experience developing research software and computational tools (e.g., web technologies, Python libraries, client/server systems).
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills for collaborative research.
Ability to work independently and take initiative on research projects.

Responsibilities

Lead research projects at the intersection of data visualization, HCAI, and HCI.
Develop AI-assisted visualization tools integrating large language models into analytical workflows.
Design and conduct empirical studies on reliability and trust in AI-augmented visualization systems.
Collaborate with CA3 center and HCC section researchers at Aarhus University.
Contribute to grant writing and proposals in HCAI and visual analytics.
Mentor graduate and undergraduate students working on related research.
Publish findings in top conferences and journals (IEEE VIS, ACM CHI, EuroVis, TVCG).
Participate in seminars, workshops, and conferences.
