Job summary

A postdoctoral position in Biogeochemical Modeling in Agroecosystems is offered at Aarhus University, Denmark. The role focuses on regional, process-based modeling to estimate GHG emissions and NUE, using DayCent/DNDC and advanced statistical methods.

You will develop scalable modeling frameworks and contribute to teaching and high-impact publications. The appointment is for two years with possible extension, starting Dec 1, 2026 or as soon as possible thereafter.

Qualifications

• PhD in agronomy, engineering, biology, or related technical field.
• Experience with process-based models (DayCent, DNDC) to simulate carbon, nitrogen and water flows in agroecosystems.
• Solid background in uncertainty quantification, Bayesian calibration, and Monte Carlo simulations.
• Strong scripting skills in R and Python; programming experience.
• Experience with HPC environments and large datasets.
• Excellent written and oral English; ability to collaborate across disciplines.
• Documented experience in scientific writing and publishing in peer-reviewed journals.

Responsibilities

• Develop and apply a scalable process-based modeling framework for regional Denmark projections.
• Evaluate climate-smart management strategies including nitrification inhibitors and fertilizer practices.
• Perform uncertainty analysis and model calibration to support reliable projections.
• Publish results in high-impact journals and contribute to teaching activities.
• Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams across departments and institutions.
