Job summary

DTU - Technical University of Denmark, through the Center for Visualizing Catalytic Processes (VISION), invites applications for PhD scholarships in operando, atomic-resolution TEM studies of catalytic materials. The project combines advanced electron microscopy, microfabricated reactors, catalysis, and computational modelling in an international, collaborative setting.

The successful candidate will contribute to mechanistic understanding of catalytic processes, publish findings at international

Qualifications

  • Two-year master's degree or equivalent required.
  • Strong problem solving and English communication skills.
  • Experience in microscopy, catalysis, or surface science is desirable.

Responsibilities

  • Perform operando, low-dose-rate TEM to capture real-time atomic-scale catalyst dynamics.
  • Advance ultrasensitive imaging and spectroscopy of gas–surface interactions and active-site formation.
  • Fabricate and use microfabricated reactors for realistic catalytic environments.
  • Visualize, quantify and interpret nanoparticle restructuring, vibrations and surface dynamics.
  • Develop Python-based image/data analysis tools for large time-resolved TEM datasets.
  • Collaborate with computational researchers on atomic-scale mechanisms and kinetics.
