Job summary

SDU CREATE invites highly motivated candidates for PhD positions in Computational Design and Robotic Fabrication for Timber Upcycling. Candidates will work on redesigning reclaimed timber into durable components, combining computational design, robotic fabrication, and material testing.

Teaching duties and collaboration with the Villum CEBE programme are expected. Applicants should hold a Master’s degree in relevant fields and demonstrate expertise in either Computational Design and Robotic

Qualifications

  • Master’s degree in architecture, civil/architectural engineering, robotics or related fields.
  • Proficiency in Grasshopper and Rhino; programming with Python or C# is valued.
  • Strong command of written and spoken English; ability to work in interdisciplinary teams.

Responsibilities

  • Conduct high-quality research within the defined project and publish outcomes.
  • Perform fabrication and structural testing experiments using robotic systems and lab equipment.
  • Contribute to CREATE’s research team and develop design, fabrication and testing frameworks.
  • Develop and maintain computational tools and workflows for the research.
  • Assist in teaching bachelor’s and master’s level courses and co-supervise students.
  • Disseminate results through publications and international conferences.
  • Engage with national and international collaborators and support grant applications.
