Job summary

Aalborg University offers a full-time PhD stipend in Clinical Natural Language Processing within the Biomedical Engineering and Neuroscience program. Appointment begins December 1, 2026 or soon after for three years, anchored at the Center for Clinical Data Science (CLINDA).

The project explores AI, NLP, LLMs, and RAG to support nursing documentation, care planning, and clinical decision‑making using NordEPJ EHR data, in collaboration with Aalborg University Hospital and the Clinical Nursing

Qualifications

• Master's degree in computer science or related field
• Strong Python programming skills and ability to prototype ideas
• Knowledge of AI, ML, and NLP preferred
• Fluent English (written and spoken); Danish knowledge a plus
• Experience in health data science is a plus
• Willingness to enroll as PhD student per university regulations

Responsibilities

• Develop an interactive LLM-based agent framework with retrieval-augmented generation (RAG) for managing information from EHRs, guidelines, and literature
• Enable synthesis of evidence into actionable insights, including missed nursing care, with traceability and interpretability
• Support nurses in planning and decision making at the point of care
• Collaborate with CLINDA, Aalborg University Hospital, and departments using NordEPJ data
