Job summary

The Department of Oncology and Office of Health and Partnerships at Lillebaelt Hospital in Vejle and the Graduate School of Health Sciences at the University of Southern Denmark invite applications for a PhD fellow position linked to European Joint Actions from 1 February 2027 or as soon as possible.

The PhD project focuses on complexity-oriented evaluation in large EU health programmes, using mixed methods to study governance, learning, and the interaction between local, national and European

Qualifications

• Master’s degree in a relevant field (e.g., social sciences, health sciences or humanities).
• Experience with evaluation and/or health-services research is advantageous.
• Experience with qualitative methods and academic writing (peer-reviewed publications preferred).
• Strong Danish and English communication skills for dissemination.

Responsibilities

• Design and conduct complexity-oriented evaluation within EU health initiatives.
• Analyse tensions between accountability frameworks and complexity-informed approaches.
• Develop and apply mixed-methods designs using documents, qualitative and selected quantitative data.
• Collaborate with academic and clinical partners across Europe and ensure research impact.
