Job summary

Kirby Group Engineering is seeking a Lead Mechanical Engineer for a flagship data centre project in Fredericia, Denmark. You will own all mechanical engineering and commissioning activities, mentor engineers and collaborate with clients, designers and site teams to drive delivery with high safety and quality standards.

This role demands senior mechanical expertise on complex projects, with accountability for design, procurement, installation, testing and handover while maintaining rigorous EHS

Qualifications

• Proven senior mechanical engineering experience on large projects.
• Experience in data centres, pharmaceuticals, industrial or mission-critical environments.
• Ability to lead engineers without micromanaging them.
• Confidence working with clients, designers and site teams.
• Practical mindset — structured, calm and solutions-focused.

Responsibilities

• Take full responsibility for mechanical engineering delivery on the project.
• Lead and manage the mechanical project engineering team, assigning engineers to work packages.
• Own the design management process, either directly or through appointed leads.
• Own the commissioning process, ensuring systems are buildable, testable and ready when required.
• Drive EHS compliance, promoting safe systems of work and leading by example on site.
• Oversee procurement from a technical perspective, including RFQs, evaluations and delivery tracking.
• Control quality from design through installation and commissioning, including ITPs and FATs.
• Coordinate with Electrical and CSA counterparts to clarify system boundaries.
