Job summary

Pleo in Copenhagen is seeking an interim In-house Legal Counsel to support our business as we scale, protecting company interests and enabling growth across fintech operations.

You will work with People, Fraud, Finance, Product, Compliance and Operations, handling employment law, vendor contracts, and regulatory interactions, while drafting policies and templates for ongoing efficiency.

Qualifications

• Cand.Jur or equivalent legal qualification recognised in Denmark.
• 2–5 years of legal experience – ideally in fintech, financial services, or a fast-growing scale-up environment.
• Knowledge about employment law and HR compliance – across multiple jurisdictions.
• Strong vendor and contract management skills – review, negotiate, and draft agreements.
• Excellent communication skills – translate legal concepts to business.
• Proactive, solutions-oriented mindset – manage multiple priorities.
• Experience with compliance and regulatory escalations is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Serve as the primary point of contact for business queries across all departments, providing practical legal guidance on day-to-day matters.
• Support People on employment law, workplace policies, and labor compliance across multiple jurisdictions.
• Draft, review, and amend internal policies, procedures, and templates for business use.
• Assist in managing fraud and compliance escalations with risk mitigation advice.
• Assist with regulatory engagement and responses to authorities like ombudsman services.
