Job summary

Ascendis Pharma in Denmark is seeking an in vivo pharmacologist to design and run nonclinical studies with external CROs. You will work in the Biology & Pharmacology team and report to the Head of Biology & Pharmacology in Hellerup.

The role includes selecting appropriate animal models and ensuring rigorous study conduct with high welfare standards. The position involves collaboration with CROs, data analysis, and English communication in a fast-paced, collaborative environment.

Qualifications

• PhD in Pharmacology or related life science.
• 1–5+ years hands-on in vivo pharmacology in academia, CROs or pharma.
• Strong knowledge of disease models, PK/PD, translational pharmacology and preclinical drug development.

Responsibilities

• Design, monitor and report in vivo and in vitro studies at external CROs to support early nonclinical development.
• Select and optimize animal models to address project questions.
• Ensure studies meet scientific rigor and high animal welfare standards.

We are seeking a passionate in vivo pharmacologist to join our growing team. As a key member of the Biology & Pharmacology team, you will play a crucial role in designing, executing and reporting in vivo pharmacology studies conducted at external CROs. This is an exciting opportunity to work in a fast-paced environment and collaborate with global, cross-functional teams to achieve extraordinary results.

You will be joining the Biology & Pharmacology team consisting of 6 colleagues, and report to Head of Biology & Pharmacologywho is based in Hellerup.You will likewise be based in Hellerup.

Your key responsibilities will be:

• Design, and monitor the execution and reporting of different types of in vivo and in vitro studies conducted at external CROs to support early nonclinical drug development
• Select and optimize appropriate animal models to address project-specific scientific questions
• Ensure that studies are conducted with scientific rigor and in compliance with our high animal welfare standards
• Select, interact with and manage CROs

Qualifications and Skills:

You hold a relevant academic degree, preferably a PhD in Pharmacology, Biology, Veterinary Science, Biomedical Sciences, Physiology, or a related life science discipline. You have 1 - 5+ years of hands-on experience in in vivo pharmacology gained within academia, CROs, or the pharmaceutical and biotechnology industries. Furthermore, you possess a solid understanding of disease models, pharmacokinetic/pharmacodynamic (PK/PD) principles, translational pharmacology, and the preclinical drug development process.

• Proficiency in written and spoken English
• Experience with data analysis and interpretation using relevant software
