Job description

HVAC Design Engineer - Offshore Substations

Are you a Mechanical Engineer with HVAC design experience and a passion for creating robust technical solutions? Do you want to design HVAC systems for offshore substations supporting some of the world's largest renewable energy projects? Then this could be your next opportunity.

Your Position

We are looking for a highly skilled and motivated Mechanical Engineer with experience in HVAC system design to strengthen our HVAC team.

In your new position as HVAC Engineer in the Renewables division, you will join our experienced Mechanical & HVAC team. You will design and engineer HVAC systems for offshore substations and work closely with multidisciplinary engineering teams, clients, suppliers, procurement, fabrication yards and commissioning teams.

You will contribute throughout the project lifecycle, from concept and tender work through detailed design, procurement, construction support and commissioning. Your work will help create robust, safe and efficient HVAC solutions for complex offshore installations.

At Semco Maritime safety is a core value, and in this role, you will contribute to maintaining and promoting a strong safety culture while delivering innovative solutions. Above all, your work will make a real change for the global energy sector.

Your place of work will be either Esbjerg, Nordhavn or Gdynia. The position is full-time, and you can expect approximately 30 travel days per year.

In this role, you will primarily work on EPCI (Engineering, Procurement, Construction and Installation) contracts for offshore substation projects.

Typical responsibilities include developing HVAC design solutions and technical documentation for offshore substation projects.

Your tasks will include but are not limited to:

  • Design, Engineering & System Integration: Designing ventilation, cooling, heating and pressurization systems, including calculations and equipment sizing.
  • Developing HVAC philosophies, specifications, diagrams, technical requisitions and other project documentation.
  • Compliance, HSE & Quality Assurance: Ensure full compliance with applicable standards, codes, and regulatory requirements, while supporting and adhering to health, safety, and environmental standards in all activities throughout the project lifecycle.
  • Specifying HVAC equipment and supporting procurement, bid evaluation, vendor follow-up and document review.
  • Coordinating technical interfaces with electrical, structural, piping, fire protection and control system disciplines, and participating in client meetings and design reviews.
  • Supporting fabrication, testing and commissioning activities, including FATs, SATs and site support when required, while adhering to health, safety and environmental standards.

We are looking for a structured and solution-oriented Mechanical Engineer who is passionate about HVAC design and wants to make a personal contribution to offshore renewable energy projects. You collaborate effectively across disciplines, communicate clearly and take ownership of your engineering deliverables.

We are looking for an outgoing and positive professional who is passionate about renewable energy and wants to leave their personal mark on it. You have a proactive and organised approach to your work and are eager to help innovate the future of sustainable solutions

To succeed in this position, we imagine that you have:

  • A Bachelor's or Master's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Marine Engineering or another relevant engineering discipline.
  • Experience with HVAC engineering and design, preferably from industrial, marine, energy or offshore projects.
  • Knowledge of ventilation, cooling, refrigeration, heating and pressurization systems, including DX and water-based cooling solutions.
  • Experience with technical documentation, equipment specifications and coordination in multidisciplinary EPC projects; offshore substation, offshore wind, marine or industrial plant experience is considered a strong advantage.
  • Professional English communication skills and a strong commitment to teamwork, quality and safety.
  • A strong focus on quality and safety, demonstrated through attention to detail and adherence to HSE requirements.
