Job summary

Rook IT ApS is growing and seeks several infrastructure specialists to design, operate, and secure HPC and IT infrastructure for diverse clients in Denmark. You’ll own areas of expertise, gain autonomy, and help automate and document systems.

We expect strong one- or two-area skills, a hands-on attitude, and openness to travel for some roles. You’ll join a small, experienced team delivering technically challenging work.

Qualifications

• At least five years of experience in a comparable role.
• Hands-on expertise in one or more areas listed in responsibilities.
• Independence and maturity: ownership and confident client interaction.
• Scripting skills (Bash, Python) or similar; automation mindset valued.
• HPC experience not required; training provided when needed.
• Occasional travel may be required for some client assignments.
• Background screening may be required by some clients.

Responsibilities

• Firewalling: design, configure and maintain Palo Alto firewalls and policies.
• Linux operations: run and troubleshoot Linux servers in production.
• Security: harden systems and manage vulnerabilities.
• Datacenter: cable/rack servers and firmware updates.
• Monitoring: build/maintain monitoring with Zabbix and Grafana.
• Logging: set up centralised log collection and SIEM integration.
• Automation / DevOps: build CI/CD pipelines and infrastructure as code.

Rook IT is growing – we're looking for several infrastructure specialists

These are busy times in the datacenter and supercomputing business. Rook IT designs, builds and operates High-Performance Computing and IT infrastructure for a wide range of clients, from research institutions and healthcare to the public sector and private companies. Demand for our services keeps rising, and that growth recently earned us a Børsen Gazelle 2026, which recognises us as one of Denmark's fastest-growing companies.

The flip side is that we have more work than hands. So we're looking for people with strong infrastructure skills to fill the gaps as we grow. Rather than one narrowly defined role, we want several new colleagues whose skills complement each other. You don't need to cover every area below. We want people who are genuinely strong in one or two of them and curious about the rest.

You’ll work as a consultant with our clients. Success in this role means clients trust you to own your area: you make sound decisions, keep their systems running and secure, and leave things better documented and more automated than you found them.

Responsibilities

Depending on your profile, you'll take responsibility for one or more of these areas:

• Firewalling: design, configure and maintain Palo Alto firewalls, which most of our clients run, including policies, NAT, VPN, upgrades and day-to-day change management
• Linux operations: run and troubleshoot Linux (RHEL/Rocky) servers in production, including identity management with FreeIPA
• Security: harden systems, manage vulnerabilities and bring a security mindset to everyday operations
• Datacenter: cable and rack servers, replace failed components, and keep hardware current with firmware and BIOS updates
• Monitoring: build and maintain monitoring with tools like Zabbix and Grafana, and turn alerts into something people actually act on
• Logging: set up and maintain syslog and centralised log collection, and support SIEM integration
• Automation / DevOps: build CI/CD pipelines, infrastructure as code and scripts that remove manual work

Some roles involve weekly travel abroad for a period, typically while a new setup is being established, until it can be managed remotely from home.

Qualifications

• At least five years of experience in a comparable role
• Solid, hands‑on expertise in one or more of the areas above
• Independence and maturity: you take ownership, make sound technical decisions and represent our expertise to clients with confidence
• Scripting skills (Bash, Python or similar). An automation mindset is a strong plus in any role. If you'd rather script a task than do it twice, you'll feel at home here
• HPC experience is not required. We'll give you the training to grow into it, and colleagues are always available when you need a second opinion
• Openness to periods of travel for some roles
• Some client assignments require background screening
