Job summary

The LEGO Group seeks a Senior Director to lead Sustainable Materials Strategy & Standards, shaping transitions to sustainable materials across resins, electronics, textiles and more. You will steer policy, standards and cross-functional programs with a focus on scalability and credible sustainability claims.

You will report to the CSO, lead a small expert team, and build external partnerships to accelerate progress while balancing environmental goals with business needs.

Qualifications

• Significant senior leadership experience within sustainability, materials and strategy, ideally gained in a global organization.
• Proven expertise in strategy development and execution, balancing sustainability ambition with commercial and operational considerations.
• Strong understanding of sustainable materials and depth to engage on feedstocks, recycling technologies, certification systems and chain of custody.
• Demonstrated success influencing and aligning stakeholders across multiple functions and levels of an organization.
• Experience building external partnerships and engaging across industries and value chains.
• Excellent communication skills, with the ability to simplify complex concepts and influence executive audiences.
• A track record of leading and developing high-performing specialist teams and fostering an inclusive culture.

Responsibilities

• Develop and evolve the Sustainable Materials Strategy, defining ambitions, targets and pathways across priority materials.
• Establish strategic direction and decision principles balancing environmental impact, feasibility, and scalability.
• Own materials-related policies, standards, and positions including feedstocks, recycling tech, mass balance and chain of custody.
• Translate scientific, regulatory and market developments into actionable recommendations for senior decision-makers.
• Build external networks and partnerships to accelerate progress and gain outside-in perspectives.
• Lead and develop a small high-performing team of strategy and materials specialists.
• Drive cross-functional alignment across Sustainability, Operations, Product, Procurement, Commercial, Government & Public Affairs.
• Represent LEGO Group in senior external forums relating to sustainable materials and industry standards.
