You'll work at the intersection of AI engineering, product development, and customer implementation.
Rather than building in isolation or working from detailed specifications, you'll spend time understanding how businesses operate, identify opportunities for automation, and develop AI-powered solutions that deliver measurable results.
You'll own implementations from the initial customer conversation through to production, ensuring agents are reliable, observable, and capable of handling real-world complexity.
This is a builder's role. You'll be expected to write code, solve problems independently, and get AI systems working in production.
What You'll Do
- Build and deploy AI agents: Design, develop, and ship AI-powered agents that execute multi-step business workflows, interact with external systems, and complete tasks autonomously.
- Own customer implementations: Work directly with customers to understand their operational processes, identify automation opportunities, and translate business requirements into working technical solutions.
- Develop integrations: Build and maintain integrations with ERP systems, APIs, email platforms, databases, and other business-critical tools. Handle messy data, edge cases, and inconsistent systems.
- Engineer reliable AI systems: Implement evaluation frameworks, guardrails, testing, monitoring, and observability to ensure agents perform consistently in production.
- Work across the stack: Build backend services, APIs, data pipelines, and supporting interfaces where required to deliver complete solutions.
- Solve problems in ambiguous environments: Make technical decisions, iterate quickly, and take ownership without waiting for detailed instructions.
- Improve the core platform: Collaborate with the founding team to turn customer-specific solutions into reusable capabilities that can scale across deployments.
What We're Looking For
- Strong hands-on Python experience, building backend systems, APIs, integrations, and production applications.
- Real AI agent development experience: You've built and shipped AI agents or LLM-powered systems that do more than generate text. You understand tool calling, multi-step workflows, structured outputs, failure handling, and the challenges of deploying AI reliably.
- Production ownership: You've taken software from initial development into live environments, dealt with real users and production issues, and improved systems based on actual performance.
- Early-stage startup experience: You've worked at an early-stage startup, ideally as a founder, founding engineer, or one of the first technical hires. You're comfortable with ambiguity, rapid iteration, and owning problems outside a narrowly defined job description.
- Customer-facing engineering experience: You're comfortable working directly with customers, understanding their workflows, explaining technical trade-offs, and translating business problems into practical engineering solutions.
- Integration and data experience: You can connect disparate systems through APIs, work with relational databases, and build solutions that handle real-world business data.
- Strong engineering judgement: You know when to use an LLM, when deterministic code is better, how to manage failure modes, and how to balance speed with reliability.
Technical Environment
The existing stack includes:
- Languages: Python, TypeScript and Go
- Frontend: Vue
- AI: LLMs, AI agents, LangChain and agent evaluation
- Data: PostgreSQL and Neo4j
- Integrations: REST APIs, email systems, ERP platforms and business applications
You don't need to be an expert in every technology listed. Strong Python and production AI engineering experience are the priorities; the ability to learn unfamiliar tools quickly matters more than matching every item on the stack.
Who This Role Is For
You're likely a strong fit if you're an AI engineer who enjoys building products from scratch, working close to customers, and taking responsibility for whether your software actually solves the problem.
