Job summary

Kirby Group Engineering is seeking an Electrical Package Manager to lead the delivery of designated electrical systems on large-scale Data Centre, Pharmaceutical, Industrial and Commercial projects. You will manage a team of Engineers, Supervisors, Subcontractors and Vendors to ensure on-time, on-budget delivery to the highest quality standards.

Qualifications

  • Degree in Electrical Engineering, Building Services Engineering or equivalent.
  • 5+ years' experience in electrical construction project delivery.
  • Experience on Data Centre, Pharmaceutical, Industrial or Mission Critical projects.

Responsibilities

  • Review package scope, specifications and construction drawings.
  • Support the Project Manager in developing package execution plans.
  • Assist in developing procurement schedules and construction programmes.
  • Identify resource requirements and support workforce planning.
  • Coordinate engineering deliverables to ensure readiness for construction.
  • Work closely with design teams, vendors and key stakeholders to resolve technical issues.
  • Participate in project kick-off and planning meetings.
  • Manage the day-to-day delivery of assigned electrical packages.
  • Lead Engineers, Supervisors and Subcontractors to achieve programme milestones.
  • Monitor installation progress and identify risks to delivery.
  • Ensure works are completed in accordance with approved drawings, specifications and project requirements.
  • Coordinate labour, materials, plant and equipment to maximise productivity.
  • Attend and contribute to project progress meetings.
  • Liaise with clients, consultants and other project stakeholders as required.
  • Track package progress and provide regular updates to the Project Manager.
  • Drive completion of works in line with project schedules and quality expectations.

Role Purpose

As an Electrical Package Manager, you will be responsible for managing the delivery of designated electrical systems and work packages on large-scale Data Centre, Pharmaceutical, Industrial and Commercial projects.

Reporting to the Project Manager, you will lead a team of Engineers, Supervisors, Subcontractors and Vendors to ensure your package is delivered safely, on schedule, within budget and to the highest quality standards.

This role is an excellent opportunity for an ambitious electrical engineer looking to progress into Project Management. You will gain exposure to programme management, client engagement, commercial management and overall project delivery while taking ownership of critical elements of major projects.

Key Responsibilities

Package Planning & Coordination

  • Review package scope, specifications and construction drawings.
  • Support the Project Manager in developing package execution plans.
  • Assist in developing procurement schedules and construction programmes.
  • Identify resource requirements and support workforce planning.
  • Coordinate engineering deliverables to ensure readiness for construction.
  • Work closely with design teams, vendors and key stakeholders to resolve technical issues.

Package Delivery

  • Manage the day-to-day delivery of assigned electrical packages.
  • Lead Engineers, Supervisors and Subcontractors to achieve programme milestones.

Health, Safety & Quality

  • Promote a positive safety culture across all package activities.
  • Ensure compliance with all company Health, Safety and Environmental procedures.
  • Participate in site inspections, audits and toolbox talks.
  • Support incident investigations and corrective action implementation.
  • Ensure quality inspections and testing activities are completed in accordance with project requirements.
  • Drive a “right first time” approach across all works.
Commercial & Reporting

  • Support the Project Manager and Commercial Team in monitoring package budgets.
  • Assist in identifying and managing change, variations and commercial risks.
  • Track labour productivity and package performance.
  • Review subcontractor progress and support valuations where required.
  • Prepare weekly and monthly package reports.
  • Monitor and communicate package risks and opportunities.
Testing, Commissioning & Handover

  • Coordinate testing and commissioning activities within package scope.
  • Ensure punch lists are managed and closed out in a timely manner.
  • Support system turnover and client handover activities.
  • Ensure all documentation, O&M manuals and record drawings are completed.
  • Participate in project close-out and lessons learned reviews.
Leadership & Development

  • Provide leadership and support to Engineers and Supervisors.
  • Assist in developing junior team members.
  • Build strong working relationships with clients, consultants and subcontractors.
  • Demonstrate the behaviours and capabilities expected of future Project Managers.
  • Actively participate in training and development programmes designed to support progression into Project Management.
Requirements

Essential

  • Degree in Electrical Engineering, Building Services Engineering or equivalent.
  • 5+ years' experience in electrical construction project delivery.
  • Experience working on Data Centre, Pharmaceutical, Industrial or Mission Critical projects.
  • Strong understanding of LV electrical systems and infrastructure.
  • Experience managing subcontractors and coordinating site activities.
  • Knowledge of commissioning, testing and handover processes.
  • Strong organisational and planning skills.
  • Excellent communication and stakeholder management abilities.
  • Commercial awareness and understanding of project cost control.
  • Commitment to safety, quality and continuous improvement.
Desirable

  • Experience leading electrical packages valued in excess of €5m.
  • Exposure to MV/HV systems.
  • Previous supervisory or team leadership experience.
  • Knowledge of programme management tools and reporting systems.
  • Ambition to progress into a Project Management role.
  • Experience working within fast-track construction environments.
