Are you passionate about building and running reliable, scalable and secure cloud data platforms? Do you want to work in the offshore wind industry, where your engineering skills will help secure a sustainable future based on renewable energy? Then keep reading: Cadeler is looking for a Data Platform Engineer with your skills and interests!
Cadeler is a global partner in the offshore wind industry, specializing in wind farm construction and maintenance. Our industry is more relevant than ever and plays a critical role in the energy transition, with a strong long-term outlook. As our industry continues to develop, so do we!
We are now looking for a Data Platform Engineer to help build, automate and operate our cloud data platform, ensuring that trusted and well-governed data is available for analytics, reporting and operational decision-making.
As our Data Platform Engineer, you will design, build and operate the technical foundations of Cadeler's data platform on Snowflake and Azure. You will work with business teams, application owners, IT and information security to integrate source systems, automate data pipelines and make reliable data available for analytics and reporting.
Your main tasks include:
Design, build and maintain data pipelines from various source systems, using managed ingestion tools such as Fivetran and custom Python where connectors fall short
Orchestrate and schedule pipelines, handle dependencies, retries and backfills, and manage Snowflake warehouse sizing and compute cost
Own CI/CD and source control in Azure DevOps: branching strategy, PR reviews, automated deployments and environment promotion (dev, test, prod), with database objects and infrastructure managed as code
Design and implement dimensional data models (facts, dimensions, star schemas, slowly changing dimensions) across raw, staging, integration and mart layers
Set up pipeline monitoring, anomaly detection and alerting, and troubleshoot and resolve incidents in production
Deliver curated, performant datasets and semantic-ready measures so departments can build reports in Power BI
Being part of the Cadeler community means having a natural interest in and care for the environment, and in our shared mission to speed up the green energy transition. Environmental considerations and the safety of our people and the planet will be a key priority in your daily work.
We are looking for an innovator with a solution-oriented mind, who thrives in a fast-paced environment with many different interfaces.
We think you will be a good match if you have:
A university degree in a relevant area such as computing, statistics or mathematics
3+ years of hands-on experience as a data engineer or data platform engineer
Proven experience designing, building and operating production data pipelines
Advanced SQL skills and strong Python skills for data processing, automation and tooling, and experience with dimensional modelling
Hands-on experience with Snowflake (warehouses, RBAC, storage and compute management, cost control) and the Azure ecosystem
An understanding of data security, governance and access control principles, as well as ability to define and write logic that transforms raw data into useful, interpretable, business-driven datasets
Fluent spoken and written English
By becoming a Cadeler employee, you will be part of a rapidly growing company with a diverse and energetic team. We offer an exciting position focused on delivering excellence in the face of interesting new challenges, within a positive and rewarding work environment in an international company with great development possibilities.
Cadeler is headquartered in Copenhagen, with offices in Vejle, Norwich, Rotterdam and Taipei, as well as colleagues working offshore aboard our fleet of Wind Farm Installation Vessels (WFIV).
