Job summary

Ascendis Pharma A/S is seeking a Data Platform Engineer to build, maintain, and scale our enterprise data platform. You will join the Data Platform Team based in Hellerup and work with global cross-functional teams to enable data-driven decisions across the organization.

You will bring 5–7 years of data engineering/architecture experience, with strong Databricks and dbt skills, plus experience in cloud infrastructure, DevOps, and documentation to empower platform users and ensure reliability.

Qualifications

• Master's degree in a technical field and 5–7 years of data engineering/architecture experience.
• Solid hands-on Databricks experience in production.
• Hands-on dbt experience (models, tests, macros, environments).
• Experience with cloud infrastructure and DevOps including Git, CI/CD, IaC and environment management.
• Understanding of data platform operations and lifecycle management.
• Experience documenting and enabling technical platforms; strong collaboration across teams.
• Experience with software development practices.

Responsibilities

• Onboard, support, and troubleshoot platform users (data engineers, analytics engineers, data product teams).
• Develop and maintain shared frameworks, templates, and standards (e.g., dbt project structures, CI/CD pipelines).
• Contribute to platform documentation, SOPs, and self-service guidance.
• Collaborate with DevOps and infrastructure teams on IaC, pipelines, environments, and access control.
• Ensure platform stability, security, and scalability in a regulated environment.
• Act as a trusted technical sparring partner for teams building on the platform.

We are seeking a passionate Data Platform Engineer to join our growing team. As a key member of the Ascendis Pharma team, you will play a crucial role in maintaining, operating, and scaling our enterprise data platform. This is an exciting opportunity to work in a fast‑paced environment, collaborate with cross‑functional, global teams working together to achieve extraordinary results.

You will be joining the Data Platform Team consisting of two colleagues, and report directly to people leader Babak Bajelanwho is based in Denmark. You will be based in Tuborg Havn, Hellerup.

Key Responsibilities

• Support platform users (data engineers, analytics engineers, and data product teams) with onboarding, troubleshooting, and best practices
• Develop and maintain shared frameworks, templates, and standards (e.g. dbt project structures, CI/CD pipelines, deployment patterns)
• Contribute to platform documentation, SOPs, and self‑service guidance
• Work closely with DevOps and infrastructure components including IaC, pipelines, environments, and access control
• Ensure platform stability, security, and scalability in a regulated environment
• Act as a trusted technical sparring partner for teams building on the platform

Qualifications and Skills

You hold a relevant academic degree – preferably a master’s degree within Technical fields like Data Engineering or Software Engineering – and 5-7 years of experience within Data Engineering and Data Architecture.

Furthermore, you have:

• Solid hands‑on experience with Databricks in a production environment
• Experience with dbt (models, tests, macros, environments)
• Experience with cloud infrastructure and DevOps including Git, CI/CD, IaC and environment management.
• Understanding of data platform operations and lifecycle management
• Experience working with documentation and enablement of technical platforms
• Comfortable supporting and collaborating with multiple development teams
• Experience with software development practices
