Want to start your data engineering career somewhere you can learn fast, take real responsibility and build things that are used across one the largest payment platform in the Nordics?

We are looking for a Data Engineer to join our Data Engineering team in Aarhus. You'll be part of our broader Data & Insights area, with colleagues across Data Engineering, Data Platform, Data Enablement & Analytics and Architecture, working together across Aarhus and Oslo.

You do not need years of experience or to know our technology stack already. We care much more about whether you have a solid technical foundation, enjoy solving problems, and are curious on new tech and want's to keep learning.

You will join an experienced and supportive team where you can ask questions, challenge ideas, experiment and gradually take ownership of increasingly complex problems. We expect you to learn a lot from the people around you, and we hope they will learn from you too.

What you'll be doing

Team Data Engineering is part of Data & Insights at Vipps MobilePay. Our job is to make trusted, useful data available across the company and increasingly make it easy for other teams to contribute data themselves.

That means we build and evolve the shared data foundation used by analysts, product teams, commercial teams, engineers and others across Vipps MobilePay.

• Build and maintain data pipelines, models and data products using Python, SQL, dbt and Databricks.
• Help evolve "Dataverse", our shared foundation for trusted and reusable data across Vipps MobilePay.
• Work on ways of making it easier for teams outside Data & Insights to contribute high-quality data themselves.
• Apply software engineering practices such as version control, testing, CI/CD and code review to data problems.
• Work closely with other engineers, analysts and teams across the company to understand problems and build useful solutions.
• Use AI actively as part of how you code, learn, investigate problems and work more effectively.
• Pair with experienced colleagues, ask questions, review code and share what you learn with the rest of the team.
• Gradually take ownership of meaningful parts of our data engineering domain as your skills grow.

You will not be expected to know everything from day one. You will get support from your team and lead, but we are looking for someone who grabs opportunities, tries things and increasingly takes responsibility for getting them done.

Who we're looking for

There are many ways you could have built the skills for this role. You might be finishing a relevant degree, have recently graduated, or already have some professional experience. We care more about what you can do and how you learn than the exact title of your degree or number of years on your CV.

We think you will thrive here if you:

• Are curious and learn fast. When you encounter something you do not know, your instinct is to investigate, experiment and ask good questions.
• Take initiative. You do not need every task broken down for you and you are motivated by gradually taking more ownership.
• Enjoy engineering. You care about building things well, not just making them work once.
• Can code. You have experience with at least one programming or query language. Python and SQL are particularly useful to us, but we are not looking for a checklist of technologies.
• Understand some of the fundamentals of modern software development, such as Git, testing, environments, deployment or CI/CD. You do not need to be an expert in all of them.
• Have worked with data in some form, whether through studies, projects or professional experience, and understand the basics of how data can be structured and modelled.
• Are excited about what AI makes possible. You might already use AI regularly and have set up your own agents or use AI when coding, learning or solving problems. Either way, you are curious about how it can help you become a better engineer and how we can use it to work differently as a team.
• Like working as part of a team. You share what you know, ask for help when you need it and help others when you can.
• Are comfortable speaking up. We want you to ask questions, contribute ideas and challenge more experienced colleagues when something does not make sense.
• Communicate well in English, our everyday working language.

Experience with tools such as Databricks, dbt, Azure or similar technologies is a plus, but not a requirement. If you have the fundamentals and the drive to learn, we can teach you our stack.
