Job summary

Ramboll is seeking a Data Architect to lead enterprise data architecture within Ramboll Tech. You will collaborate with enterprise and product architects, data product teams and cross-functional stakeholders to shape data roadmaps and scalable data platforms.

The role focuses on transforming data into strategic assets, building scalable data warehouses, and guiding governance, security, and interoperability across Ramboll’s global domains. Hybrid work is available.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field.
• 5+ years of professional experience in data architecture with a strong focus on cloud architecture, data integration and data modelling.
• Deep understanding of the modern data stack and data governance practices.
• Experience in data modelling, data warehousing, ETL processes and data integration with data platform teams.
• Experience with cloud platforms such as Microsoft Azure, Google Cloud Platform or AWS.

Responsibilities

• Own and evolve Ramboll Tech’s enterprise data architecture, including data principles, target-state models, and data architecture standards across platforms and products.
• Lead the data architectural design, transforming data ecosystems into scalable, AI-ready data products that drive value.
• Establish, document, and enforce data architecture standards, data modelling guidelines, and best practices.
• Define and maintain enterprise and domain data models.
• Shape data products, contracts, and interoperability patterns.
• Guide data platform usage (e.g. DWH/EDWH/Fabric/analytics layers).
• Ensure integration points adhere to data protection standards across multi-geo environments.
• Implement data lineage, data cataloging, and observability for trust in data pipelines.

As our Data Architect, you will play a key role in transforming data into a strategic asset, by ensuring it is well-structured, governed andleveragedeffectively for business growth. • Design and implement modern data architectures:Lead the design and implementation of scalable,robustand secure data systems using modern data stack technologies. Ensuredataarchitecture is aligned with businessobjectives.
• Improve and ensure the overall quality of data, including ease of access and use of data assets. Define information anddataarchitectureas a part of an overall business and technology strategy. Design and implement integration solutions that connect disparate business systems and data sources to ensure seamless data flow across the organisation.
• Support data platform teams:Work with data platform teams to design and implement operating models that support efficient data processing, integrations, reporting and AI model deployment and execution.
• Data modelling:Design and develop data models that support business processes,analyticsand reporting requirements. Ensure that data models are optimised for performance and scalability.
• Technology roadmaps:Actively engage with technology providers to understand critical, data relevant,technology roadmaps. Explore innovative solutions and evaluate their alignment with business goals and enterprise-wide data strategy

Key responsibilities:

• Own and evolve Ramboll Tech’s enterprise data architecture, including data principles, target-state models, anddataarchitecturestandards across platforms and products

• Accountabletoestablish, document, and enforce data architecture standards, data modelling guidelines, and best practices across theorganisation
• Define andmaintainenterprise and domain data models
• Shape data products, contracts, and interoperability patterns
• Guide data platform usage (e.g. DWH /EDWH/Fabric / analytics layers)
• Ensure that integration points adhere to strict data protection standards across multi-geo environments.
• Implement frameworks for data lineage, datacataloging, and automated observability to ensure trust and reliability in data pipelines
• Design and implement integration solutions that connect disparate business systems and data sources to ensure seamless data flow across the organisation.
• Maintaining repositories forrepresentingthe data elements including the entities, relationships and attributes, the information flows, and business glossary
• Contribute to architectural governance by reviewingdatarelateddesigns, guiding teams, and ensuring alignment with Ramboll’s target architecture.
• Collaborate closely with data governance teams to embed data quality, security, and compliance (e.g., GDPR) directly intodataintegration pipelines and architectural designs.
• Work closely with cross-functional teams, including business stakeholders,product owners,data scientists, dataengineerandother SME colleagues in Ramboll Tech, to understand data requirements and deliver solutions that meet business needs.
• Work withenterprise architects, productarchitects,developersand engineers to operationalisedata architectureand build robust and scalable technology stacks and platforms fordigital andanalyticsolutions
• Continuously evaluate and recommend new tools and technologies that can improve the efficiency and effectiveness of data engineeringprocessing

HOW YOU WILL SUCCEED IN YOUR ROLE

Key Qualifications:

• Education:Bachelor’s orMaster’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field.

Experience:

• 5+ years of professionalexperience in data architecture, with a strong focus on cloud architecture, dataintegrationand data modelling.
• Deep understanding of the modern data stack and its components.
• Previousengagement inestablishingdata architectureand data governance.
• Experience in leadingdata modelling, database design, data warehousing, master data management, data governance practices.Strong skills in data modelling, ETL processes and data integration, havingworked withdata platform teams.
• Experience in securing and protection of sensitive information
• Experience in AEC industry is great to have.
• Developed data pipelines to extract, transform, and loadengineering platformdata for analysis and reporting.
• Experiencein implementing decentralized data products within a Data Mesh architecture
• Proven experience with cloud platforms such as Microsoft Azure, GCP or AWS.

Skills:

• Exceptionalanalytical andproblem-solving skills with the ability to design innovative solutions to complex data challenges.
• Data Modelling (Conceptual, Logical, Physical), Data Warehousing, Data Lakes, Data Mesh, Data Governance, Metadata Management, Master Data Management.
• Skilled in leading the lifecycle ofproduction-grade data products, fromconceptual modelling to deployment and continuous optimization
• Familiarity with the DAMA Data Management Framework (DAMA-DMBOK) and its application in managing data as a strategic asset
• Understanding ofengineering platforms and dataintegration withengineeringsystems(Great to have skill)
• Advanced knowledge of data modelling tools, data lakes, SQL, and pipeline design
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to convey technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders
• Proficientin Microsoft Fabric platform(Great to have skill)
• Relevant certifications in cloud technologies are a plus, such as: Data Engineering certifications, Databricks certifications
