Job summary

Flying Tiger Copenhagen is seeking a Buying Manager for Toys, Games & Hobby to lead the development of commercial assortments and supplier partnerships from our Copenhagen HQ. You will drive sales and margin by strategic sourcing, category planning, and cross-functional collaboration with Design and Marketing across international markets.

The role offers a hybrid work setup and strong growth opportunities. Fluent English, 6-8 years in buying, and a track record of delivering product innovation

Qualifications

  • 6-8 years of buying experience in retail, FMCG, or similar consumer products.
  • Experience managing international supplier relationships.
  • Strong category management, assortment planning, and negotiation skills.

Responsibilities

  • Lead and execute the buying strategy for the Toys, Games & Hobby category.
  • Develop commercially successful assortments by analyzing sales, trends, insights, and competitor activity.
  • Create a balanced product range of core, innovation and seasonal items to drive growth.
  • Collaborate with the Design team to align products with brand direction and performance.
  • Build and manage strategic supplier relationships, negotiate pricing, terms, and promotions.
  • Lead, coach, and develop Buyers and Junior Buyers with clear objectives and feedback.
  • Partner with Marketing to develop category-focused campaigns and maximize performance.
  • Stay ahead of trends through trade fairs, supplier visits, market research, and forecasting.

Buying Manager – Toys, Games & Hobby

We are looking for a Buying Manager – Toys, Games & Hobby to lead the development and growth of our category portfolio. In this role, you will be responsible for driving sales, margin, and innovation through strategic sourcing, product development, supplier partnerships, and category planning.

You will be working from our HQ in Copenhagen (Christianshavn) and report directly to our Head of Buying in our Buying team with 27 colleagues.
You will lead a team consisting of 5 dedicated team members.

What you will do
  • Lead and execute the buying strategy for the Toys, Games & Hobby category.
  • Develop commercially successful assortments by analyzing sales performance, market trends, customer insights, and competitor activity.
  • Create a balanced product range combining core assortment, innovation, and seasonal campaign products that delight customers and drive growth.
  • Collaborate closely with the Design team to ensure products align with brand direction while maintaining strong commercial performance.
  • Build and manage strategic supplier relationships, negotiating pricing, delivery terms, and promotional support.
  • Lead, coach, and develop Buyers and Junior Buyers by setting clear objectives, providing regular feedback, and supporting professional development.
  • Partner with Marketing to develop category-focused campaigns and maximize commercial performance.
  • Stay ahead of consumer and market trends through trade fairs, supplier visits, market research, competitor analysis, and trend forecasting.
What you bring
  • 6-8 years of buying experience within retail, FMCG, or a related consumer products industry.
  • Experience in managing international supplier relationships.
  • Strong category management, assortment planning, and negotiation skills.
  • Commercially driven with a proven track record of delivering sales growth, margin improvement, and successful product innovation.
  • Experience leading, coaching, or developing junior team members.
  • Experience with toys, games, hobbies, children's products, or similar consumer categories is highly desirable.
