Job summary

Orbis is growing fast. We are seeking a Scientific Data Engineer to build scalable data infrastructure for biology and chemistry teams. You will work closely with biology, chemistry, design and data science teams to understand their data needs and develop solutions using commercial and custom tools.

This role focuses on building data platforms, pipelines and workflows, enabling AI/ML operations while ensuring data integrity and FAIR compliance. Onsite work in Copenhagen is required.

Qualifications

• Degree in chemistry, biology, bioinformatics or related field.
• 3+ years in a scientific environment with exposure to drug discovery.
• Strong Python skills and data libraries.
• Experience with relational databases and SQL.
• Ability to communicate effectively with scientists and collaborate.

Responsibilities

• Develop and manage the Orbis data platform, spanning commercial software and custom solutions.
• Gather requirements from chemistry, biology and data science teams and prototype solutions.
• Harmonise data operations across the organisation.
• Write and maintain ETL data pipelines to streamline data ingestion and organisation.
• Safeguard data integrity and quality in line with FAIR principles.
• Collaborate with software engineers and data scientists to enable AI/ML operations.
• Act as the go-to contact for lab scientists using our data products and infrastructure.
