Job summary

University of Copenhagen seeks a motivated bioinformatician to join the CAEG/AEGIS team working on ancient environmental genomes. You will process large sequencing datasets, design robust pipelines, and develop tools in close collaboration with interdisciplinary researchers.

The position is fixed-term (3 years) with 37 hours/week, placed at Globe Institute's Section for GeoGenetics, with a focus on onboarding and integration into the center.

Qualifications

  • Master’s degree or PhD in life sciences, computer science, bioinformatics, data science, or related field.
  • Advanced proficiency in Python, R, and Unix shell scripting.
  • Experience with genomic and high-throughput sequencing data.
  • Familiarity with HPC environments and Slurm.
  • Experience developing workflows with Snakemake/Nextflow and Docker.

Responsibilities

  • Process and analyze large-scale sequencing data from ancient environmental genomes.
  • Design and automate robust pipelines for data summarization, visualization and QC.
  • Develop bioinformatic tools, benchmark computational methods, and solve complex problems.
  • Collaborate closely with researchers across disciplines.
