Job summary

Lunar is seeking a Senior Backend Engineer to join our Copenhagen team. You will design and deliver complex distributed systems for Financial Crime Control and lead technical discussions while mentoring peers.

You will work with cloud technologies, event-driven architectures, and explore AI tooling as part of our stack, with a high degree of autonomy in an agile environment.

Qualifications

• Minimum 3 years of backend experience in designing and delivering complex systems.
• Expertise in event-driven architecture and distributed systems for reliability at scale.
• Experience with cloud technologies and modern backend stacks.
• Interest in AI and familiarity with solutions like OpenAI.

As our new (Senior) Backend Engineer you'll join a team based in Copenhagen, reporting to Eugene, working to automate manual and repetitive tasks in Financial Crime Control at scale, across our broader Technology function.

What will you do?

• Design and deliver complex distributed systems that improve Financial Crime Control efficiency, anticipating technical risks and dependencies before they become blockers.
• Guide teams in the responsible and effective use of AI tooling as it becomes a bigger part of our stack.
• Lead technical discussions on system design and implementation, and mentor other engineers — a bigger part of the role as you grow into its senior scope.
• Partner with teams across the organization to help them build and integrate new solutions, working across domains to solve data aggregation and integration challenges, and drive projects with minimal support.
• Work with a high degree of autonomy in an agile environment, and evaluate team processes to identify and implement high-impact improvements.

What are we looking for in you?

• Minimum of 3 years of backend experience, with a proven track record of designing and delivering complex systems at scale.
• Expertise in event-driven architecture and distributed systems, balancing trade-offs to ensure system reliability and performance.
• Experience with cloud technologies.
• Experience with Go is a significant advantage.
• A strong interest in AI and familiarity with solutions like OpenAI.
• Excellent collaboration and communication skills, with the ability to work effectively across different teams and domains.
