Responsibilities

  • Bidrager til undervisning på bachelor- og kandidatniveau inden for cybersikkerhed og softwareudvikling.
  • Deltager i forskningsprojekter og ekstern anskaffelse af midler til forskning.
  • Vejleder og vejlede studerende på grund-, kandidat- og ph.d.-niveau.
  • Bidrager til forskning i cybersikkerhedsområder som identitet og adgangsstyring, netværkssikkerhed og sikkerhed i indlejrede systemer.

Aarhus University, Denmark - an international top-100 university - has made an ambitious strategic investment plan (+300 mill DKK) to radically expand the focus on Cyber Security (for more info, see here). Therefore, the Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering invites applications from candidates who are driven by excellence in research and teaching as well as external collaboration on societal challenges.

The positions will be in the Software engineering and computing systems section. The section performs teaching and conducts innovation & research in the systematic development of software taking its context into account. This ranges all the way from desktop computers over mobile devices to fully-fledged system of systems and cyber-physical systems. The section is particularly well-known internationally for its research around digital twins, using co-simulation for cyber-physical systems also including autonomy. We have been expanding on Cyber for the last couple of years; until now two full professors and several associate/assistant professors are working within the area.

The positions are open from January 1st, 2027, or as soon as possible thereafter.

The successful candidates will have a holistic approach to system security, which builds on a strong technical background in cyber security.

  • Identity and Access Management, incl. policies, protocols and mechanisms for (biometric) authentication and access control
  • Network Security Technologies, Architectures and Protocols
  • Computer and Network Forensics
  • Reverse Engineering and Malware Analysis
  • AI in security and security in AI
  • Privacy Enhancing Technologies
  • Offensive security techniques and pen testing
  • (Empirical) studies: All techniques, methods and tools need to reliably show their positive impact on the goal of secure embedded software.
  • Governance: Risk and compliance
  • Cloud and edge security (securing serverless and containerized applications)
  • Tools for automated identification of attack patterns, walware, …
  • Security in embedded systems and critical infrastructure
  • Cyber ranges and their applications
  • Secure software development and security in software development

You will be contributing to our ongoing research, teaching (both undergraduate (BSc and BEng) and graduate level, and innovation activities based on your qualifications.

We have recently developed a new specialization in cyber security at our MSc program. You will be involved in refining and teaching on one or more of these courses as well as other courses.

Most of our research is externally funded. You will contribute to research projects and proposals.

You will be supervising and mentoring students at undergraduate, graduate and post graduate level.

Most of our activities are done in collaboration with other researchers within the section and department – and in most cases in an interdisciplinary research context. You will be part of our research group within Cyber Securit.

Applicants should hold a PhD in a relevant research area (see below). The job is an Associate professor. Successful external funding, several papers in high-quality journals or other high-quality publication channels as well as documented excellence in teaching are necessary for a positive assessment. Formalities and salary range

Technical Sciences refers to the Ministerial Order on the Appointment of Academic Staff at Danish Universities under the Danish Ministry of Science, Technology and Innovation.
