Aarhus University’s National Centre for Register-based Research (NCRR) invites applications for an Associate Professor position in Register-based Psychiatric and Environmental Epidemiology to commence 1 January 2027. The role is a full-time, 3-year fixed-term appointment within a leading department renowned for psychiatric epidemiology and large-scale Danish register research.

You will lead high-quality register-based studies, contribute to teaching at Bachelor's and Master’s levels, supervise

Qualifications

  • PhD degree and a strong record of independent epidemiological research.
  • Experience with population-based register research and large-scale longitudinal data.
  • Strong methodological expertise in epidemiology and statistical analysis.
  • Experience with health, socioeconomic, genetic, environmental or spatial data.
  • Strong publication record in international peer‑reviewed journals.
  • Demonstrated ability to develop research questions into completed studies.
  • Experience with national or international research collaboration.

Responsibilities

  • Contribute to the department’s research and teaching environment and to the faculty’s overall research strategy.
  • Conduct research at a high international level and develop an independent academic profile.
  • Deliver high-quality teaching/supervision and contribute to academic development of Aarhus University.
  • Lead and conduct register-based studies on mental health using Danish nationwide registries, residential histories, environmental exposure data, health-related surveys and genetic data.
  • Disseminate research findings to national and international academic networks.
  • Engage in securing external research funding.
  • Participate in assessment and committee work at Aarhus University.
  • Supervise students at Bachelor's/Master's level and supervise PhD students.
