Assistant Professor in International Business

Aalborg University Business School (AAUBS) invites applications for a full-time Assistant Professor position in International Business. The position is a 4-year fixed-term appointment (37 hours/week) with a planned start date of December 1, 2026, or soon thereafter.

The position offers an excellent opportunity to develop a strong academic profile within a dynamic and internationally oriented research environment, combining high-quality research, teaching, and engagement with industry and society.

The IB Research Group at AAUBS aims to deliver high quality research aiming at leading IB academic outlets, teaching, and outreach activities in international business to enable students, companies, and society at large to address the grand challenges in a highly volatile and unpredictable world. The successful candidate will join a dynamic and collaborative faculty dedicated to excellence in cross-cultural teaching and research.

Your work tasks

The IB Research Group seeks a highly motivated and collaborative candidate to fill this position. Research areas will be within international business, with a focus on contemporary developments and emerging challenges shaping the future of international business.

The candidate must demonstrate potential for developing proactive and collaborative research with the capacity for theoretical and methodological contributions to international business knowledge.

The successful applicant is required to show evidence of international business research publications that have been published or are in a pipeline for publication and to submit a plan for future research activities. The appointee is expected to be a team player, who will be actively involved in interdisciplinary research initiatives through developing collaboration within the IB group as well as with other research groups in AAUBS and with Departments across the University. Moreover, we value academic citizenship and will accordingly evaluate the candidate’s ability to contribute to taskforces, research event organization, and project applications.

The Problem-Based Learning (PBL) approach is at the core of the teaching philosophy of Aalborg University and AAUBS, and the successful applicant will contribute to an engaging and inclusive learning environment. Aalborg University offers training in PBL. A willingness and ability to teach at all levels is essential. Teaching experience in international business will be an advantage.

Qualification requirements

Appointment as assistant professor requires academic qualifications at PhD level. The research potential of each applicant will be emphasized in the overall assessment.

Salary and terms of employment

The employment is in accordance with the Ministerial Order on the Appointment of Academic Staff at Universities (the Appointment Order) and the Ministerial Order on Job Structure for Academic Staff at Universities (in Danish) and protocol on certain terms of employment of academic staff at universities (in Danish).

Salary and terms of employment are in accordance with the collective agreement between the Danish Confederation of Professional Associations and the state (AC collective agreement) (only in Danish) and protocol on certain terms of employment of academic staff at universities (only in Danish). There is a mutual probationary period of 3 months for the position.
