Qualifications

  • PhD in chemical engineering, biochemical engineering, biotechnology, synthetic biology, bioengineering, computational biology, or closely related discipline.
  • Strong track record, or clear potential to develop a strong international research reputation.
  • Experience integrating experimental and computational approaches.
  • Ability to attract competitive external research funding.
  • Excellent communication, mentoring, and leadership skills.

Responsibilities

  • Establish and lead an independent, internationally visible research program in synthetic biology and biochemical engineering.
  • Develop new approaches for discovery, design, and engineering of enzymes, metabolic pathways, proteins, and biological systems.
  • Integrate computational methods, including AI/ML, with experimental biology and biochemical engineering.
  • Advance technologies to expand biological and chemical diversity including noncanonical biomolecules.
  • Supervise PhD students and contribute to teaching across BSc, MSc, and PhD programs.
