Job summary

Thunderstrike Aviation, based in Odense, Denmark, seeks a senior accounting professional to own day-to-day accounting and drive the internal finance function in-house. You will manage the general ledger, payroll, intercompany entries, VAT compliance, and internal controls across the EU.

You’ll work across functions and countries, close books at quarter and year-end, and shape finance processes with automation. Fluency in English is required; Danish experience is a plus.

Qualifications

• Strong knowledge of Danish bookkeeping and VAT.

Most accounting roles are about keeping books. This one is about building the function that keeps them. At Thunderstrike Aviation, you’ll own the day-to-day accounting and help move our entire finance operation from externally managed to fully in-house – where accuracy, control and clean numbers aren’t nice-to-haves. We design and manufacture advanced unmanned systems used for defense, border security, search and rescue, and environmental monitoring across Europe. The Role

This is a high-ownership role that will become the primary owner of operational accounting within Thunderstrike EU – and a key player in the shift from externally managed finance to a finance function we run and control ourselves. You’ll keep the books right today and help define how finance works tomorrow.

You’ll work across functions and countries, close the books through quarter-end and year-end, and build the internal controls and processes that a scaling company needs. What You’ll Do

• Take ownership of the general ledger, including quarter-end and year-end close.
• Payroll administration.
• Run day-to-day operational accounting: accounts payable, employee reimbursements, expenses and fixed asset administration.
• Handle intercompany accounting across our EU and international entities.
• Own VAT, compliance and regulatory reporting to Danish requirements, including Intrastat.
• Strengthen internal controls and improve finance processes – bringing in automation and smarter tooling where it earns its place.
• Help bring finance processes in-house from external management – and build the internally controlled function that replaces them.

What We’re Looking For

You likely have a background in one or more of the following:

• Financial accounting and general ledger ownership
• Danish bookkeeping and VAT
• Quarter-end and year-end closing
• Intercompany accounting in an international group
• Finance process improvement or ERP implementation

Professional experience in several of the following:

• A degree in accounting, finance, business administration or a related field – or equivalent hands-on experience
• At least 3 years in a financial accounting role
• Strong knowledge of Danish bookkeeping and VAT requirements
• ERP systems and finance process improvements (SAP an advantage)
• Intrastat and VAT reporting
• Advanced Excel
• Fluent English, written and spoken (Danish is an advantage)
