Job summary

BRIC Institute søger en 1–2 adjunktstillinger indenfor Eksperimentel Hematologi for at arbejde med CRISPR-baseret modellering af menneskelige hæmatologiske syndromer og sygdomme.

The Porse group at the Finsen Laboratory/BRIC Institute is seeking 1-2 highly motivated assistant professors to work on CRISPR-based modelling of human hematological syndromes and diseases. Ideally, the starting date is January 1st, 2027.

Our research

The Porse group (Finsen Laboratory/BRIC) has a diverse and stimulating environment with a research focus on elucidating mechanisms governing normal and malignant haematopoiesis with special emphasis on the behaviour of hematopoietic stem cells (HSCs) during adult haematopoiesis and leukemic stem cells (LSCs) in acute myeloid leukaemia. To this end, we employ mouse models of human AML, mouse knockout lines of putative HSC/LSC regulators, primary patient material and a broad range of genome‑wide approaches and single cell analyses incl. cutting edge single cell proteomics. Combined our research environment is highly interdisciplinary, inclusive and international.

The Porse group is affiliated with the Finsen Laboratory at Rigshospitalet as well as with BRIC at the University of Copenhagen.

Your job

The successful candidates will support our efforts to develop and characterize models of human hematological disorders and syndromes in primary human hematopoietic stem and progenitor cells. Downstream characterization may entail differentiation assays, stem cell assays, functional assays and various “omics”-based characterization.

The assistant professor’s responsibilities will primarily consist of:

• research, including publication/academic dissemination duties


• research-based teaching


• sharing knowledge with society


• participation in formal pedagogical training programme for assistant professors

Furthermore, we are looking for a highly motivated and enthusiastic scientist with the following skills and experience:

Essential experience and skills:

• A PhD in life sciences or equivalent research experience.


• Strong research experience documented by relevant research output


• Experience with CRISPR-based modelling in primary human cell culture systems


• Good organizational skills and a detail-oriented structured approach to work tasks.


• Collaborative skills.


• Excellent English skills written and spoken.


• An interest in pre- and postgraduate teaching experience

Desirable experience and skills:

• Expertise in single-cell technologies, experimental mouse work, advanced flow cytometry, CRISPR technologies and/or functional haematopoiesis


• We are particular interested in candidates eager to push technological and experimental barriers

Place of employment

The employment is at BRIC, University of Copenhagen. BRIC is located in the Biocenter, close to the centre of Copenhagen. We offer creative and stimulating working conditions in a dynamic and international research environment. Our research facilities include modern laboratories and several core facilities (NGS, single cell and spatial aspects, high-throughput robotics tec.) shared between the 26 research groups at BRIC and the neighboring Finsen Laboratory. Terms of employment

The average weekly working hours are 37 hours per week.

The position is a fixed-term position limited to a period of 3 years. The starting date is Jan 1st, 2027 or after agreement.

Salary, pension and other conditions of employment are set in accordance with the Agreement between the Ministry of Finance and AC (Danish Confederation of Professional Associations) or other relevant organisation. Currently, the monthly salary starts at 42,100 DKK/approx. 5,600 EUR (August 2026 level). Depending on qualifications, a supplement may be negotiated. The employer will pay an additional 18,07 % to your pension fund.

Foreign and Danish applicants may be eligible for tax reductions if they hold a PhD degree and have not lived in Denmark the last 10 years.

The position is covered by the Job Structure for Academic Staff at Universities 2020.
