Google Inc. seeks a Share Technical Operations Engineer, Controls in Germany to lead the transition of controls projects from Technical Program Managers and to own continued development and regional implementation.

You will develop, standardize, and maintain dashboards and monitoring systems for the region, ensuring reliability and efficiency. You will also lead Controls Office Hours for knowledge sharing, support incident post-mortems and risk analyses for 3PDC sites, and collaborate with AI

Qualifikationen

Share Technical Operations Engineer, Controls

Mid

Experience driving progress, solving problems, and mentoring more junior team members; deeper expertise and applied knowledge within relevant area.

  • Associate's degree, trade school certification, or other certified training in a related technical field, or equivalent practical experience.
  • 9 years of experience in data center operations, critical facilities management, or facility commissioning.
  • Experience working with mechanical, electrical, or control systems infrastructure.
  • Experience with control system protocols (e.g., Modbus, BACnet, SNMP).
Preferred qualifications:
  • Master's degree in a relevant engineering field.
  • Experience developing and maintaining monitoring dashboards and data visualization tools. Specific experience with Google-internal tools like "Show of Power", DCViz, and Coolrunning is a strong plus.
  • Proven experience working with industrial control systems, such as Building Management Systems (BMS), Power Monitoring Systems (PMS), or SCADA systems.
  • Direct experience in a 3PDC or co-location data center environment.
  • Knowledge of risk assessment methodologies (e.g., FMEA) and experience participating in Technical Due Diligence (TDD) or Site Operational Readiness Assessments (SORA).
  • Scripting or programming skills relevant to data analysis or control system integration.

In this role, you will serve as the primary point of contact for transitioning controls-related projects from Technical Program Managers, taking ownership of their continued development and implementation within the region. You will be responsible for developing, standardizing, and maintaining regional monitoring dashboards and systems, ensuring their ongoing functionality and effectiveness. You will also play a key role in knowledge sharing by leading Controls Office Hours sessions to train the team. You will provide crucial support for Post Mortems, Technical Due Diligence (TDD), Site Operational Readiness Assessments (SORA), and risk analysis as they pertain to the controls and monitoring of Third-Party Data Center (3PDC) sites. You will be identifying and raising deficiency issues with monitoring tools and driving these issues to resolution to improve tool efficacy. Germany: €112000 - €114000 (EUR) + 15% bonus target + equity + benefits

  • Serve as the primary point of contact to transition controls-related projects from Technical Program Managers, taking ownership of their continued development and regional implementation.
  • Develop, standardize, and maintain regional monitoring systems and dashboards, proactively identifying and resolving tool deficiencies to optimize overall performance.
  • Lead knowledge-sharing sessions and training initiatives to support and educate the broader team on controls engineering practices.
  • Provide critical support for incident post-mortems, technical due diligence, site operational readiness assessments, and risk analysis for third-party data centers.
