heyData is seeking a Lead Team Lead Data & AI to own our data infrastructure and analytics, launching a dedicated function to drive AI adoption across the company. You will initially manage three reports, mentoring Analytics Engineer and two AI Managers, ensuring data-driven decisions and a Data- and AI-first culture.

You will build scalable models, govern AI workflows, and collaborate across departments to decide what to automate or build.

As Team Lead Data & AI, you'll own our data infrastructure and analytics and be responsible for launching and building a dedicated function to drive AI Adoption across heyData. Initially, you’ll lead a team of three: An Analytics Engineer and two Business Automation & AI Managers. You'll ensure data-driven decision-making and foster a Data- and AI-first culture inside heyData.

Your Mission

• Own Data Architecture & Infrastructure: Own and maintain our end-to-end BI setup (currently Airbyte/Fivetran, dbt, Snowflake, Metabase), replacing the strategic and architectural work currently done by an external consultancy.
• Develop Scalable Data Models: Build and maintain reliable, scalable data models that ensure data integrity and accuracy across all business functions.
• Drive Strategic Insights: Analyze business performance metrics, identify trends, and provide actionable recommendations to leadership and various teams.
• Lead, Build & Manage the Data & AI Team: Set priorities, mentor, run 1:1s, and ensure the AI use-case backlog is sequenced by impact and feasibility.
• Own Data & AI Governance: Set the standard for how AI-enabled workflows built by the Business Automation & AI Managers handle customer and compliance-relevant data.
• Leverage AI-Augmented Analytics Workflows: Apply AI coding tools to accelerate development, improve code quality, and establish best practices for AI-assisted analytics and workflow across the team.
• Cross-Team Collaboration: Work closely with Engineering, Product, Marketing, Sales and every other department to decide what should be automated versus built into the product, and to elevate anything needing deeper engineering.

Your Profile

• Demonstrate Strong Analytics Experience: 5+ years of experience in Business Intelligence, Data Analytics, or a related field.
• Apply Data Modeling Best Practices: Solid understanding of data modeling, ETL processes, and data warehousing concepts, and the ability to apply and implement them.
• Work with Business Intelligence Tools: Hands-on experience building dashboards and reports using BI tools such as Tableau, Power BI, Metabase, or similar.
• Communicate Data Effectively: Excellent communication skills with the ability to clearly present complex data and insights to non-technical stakeholders.
• Business Acumen: Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to translate complex data into meaningful business insights.
• People Leadership Experience: Proven ability to manage or mentor a small team. You'll have four direct reports from day one, including two brand-new roles you'll need to help stand up.
• AI-Literate Leadership: Genuine interest in AI-enabled automation and comfort setting priorities and governance for work you won't be building yourself day to day.
• Thrive in Fast-Paced Environments: Experience in a startup or fast-paced environment with rapidly evolving priorities.
