Zusammenfassung

Blue Light Card is seeking a senior Quality Engineer to design and evolve the testing frameworks across mobile and web platforms. You’ll work hands-on, spend at least half of your time building automation, and partner with Staff Engineers, Platform, and Product to embed quality early in delivery.

You’ll shape test environments, drive performance testing, and mentor engineers in quality practices. Hybrid work is offered with offices in the UK.

Reporting to the Quality Lead, you'll work across both quality strategy and hands‑on engineering delivery. This is a senior individual contributor role with broad cross‑organisational scope. You'll spend the majority of your time hands‑on, designing and building the frameworks and tooling that make it easier for every squad to deliver to a consistently high standard, working closely with Staff Engineers, Platform, and Product so that quality is built in from the start, not bolted on at the end. It's a new role, which means you'll have genuine scope to shape it. Rather than working within one narrow area, you'll collaborate across the full spectrum of quality, from how we test our mobile apps to how we think about data and AI. What You'll Do

• Work closely with the Quality Lead to translate quality strategy into practice across squads, embedding consistent standards covering unit, integration, contract, functional, E2E, and mobile testing across iOS and Android
• Collaborate with squads to build and maintain mobile test frameworks for iOS and Android, including functional automation and performance testing, ensuring teams have the tooling and support they need to test confidently across both platforms
• Create reusable web automation foundations, including reference implementations and shared tooling that give squads a clear, well‑supported path to consistent quality across our web stack
• Shape our performance testing approach, working with teams to define how we measure and validate performance across web and mobile and weaving this into our delivery cadence
• Stay hands‑on in the code, spending at least 50% of your time actively designing, building, and improving test automation and tooling across web, mobile, and other platforms
• Partner with Platform and Staff Engineers on test environment and test data strategy, defining how environments are provisioned and kept consistent, and how test data is generated, masked, and managed safely
• Use quality signals including defect escape rates, flakiness trends, coverage, crash rates, and performance metrics to identify where investment will have the greatest impact, sharing findings in a way that resonates with both technical and non‑technical stakeholders
• Support and coach engineers across the organisation on quality principles, helping teams understand the reasoning behind shared standards and nurturing a culture where quality is everyone's responsibility

• Considerable hands‑on experience with web automation across multiple layers including unit, integration, contract, and E2E, with the technical judgement to support teams in making the right architectural decisions within a real delivery cadence
• A collaborative approach to performance testing strategy across web and mobile platforms, including defining approaches, selecting and evolving tooling, and nurturing performance testing as a natural part of how teams deliver together
• A thoughtful and well‑developed approach to prioritisation, with the ability to weigh competing quality investments across multiple teams, make considered decisions under ambiguity, and bring stakeholders with you on those choices
• Advanced TypeScript and Node.js skills, with a history of writing production‑quality test code and automation tooling that other engineers look to as a reference, learn from, and build upon
• Considerable experience shaping test environment and test data strategy in close collaboration with platform and engineering teams, including environment provisioning, data generation, masking, and lifecycle management at scale
• Outstanding communication skills and a genuine talent for building trusted relationships, bringing people with you in collaborative discussions, supporting senior stakeholders with clear and structured thinking, and helping others feel confident navigating complex trade‑offs
• A working knowledge of AWS serverless architectures including Lambda, DynamoDB, EventBridge, SQS, AppSync, and API Gateway, alongside familiarity with observability tooling such as Grafana or Datadog to proactively surface quality risks using production signals
• A solid understanding of data quality principles including ETL/ELT pipelines and data warehouse concepts, with experience working closely and inclusively alongside data engineering teams to build and sustain shared quality standards
