THE ROLE

AMD is seeking a Sr. Product Application Engineer to help customers unlock the full potential of AMD Adaptive Computing and FPGA technologies. In this highly visible customer-facing role, you will work alongside Sales, FAEs, engineering teams, ecosystem partners, and some of the world's most innovative technology companies to accelerate the adoption of AMD solutions across a wide range of applications.

As a trusted technical advisor, you will support customers throughout their development journey-from architecture discussions and proof-of-concepts through design implementation, optimization, and deployment. You will have the opportunity to influence customer technology decisions, solve complex technical challenges, and provide valuable feedback that shapes future AMD products, IP, software tools, and development methodologies.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Serve as a trusted technical advisor supporting customers throughout the design, development, and deployment lifecycle of AMD FPGA and Adaptive Computing solutions.
  • Provide pre-sales and post-sales technical support to customers, partners, and AMD field teams.
  • Diagnose and resolve hardware, software, system-level, and design flow challenges through simulation, emulation, lab debugging, and on-site customer engagement.
  • Conduct technical design reviews and help customers optimize designs for performance, functionality, and timing closure.
  • Develop reference designs, demonstrations, technical collateral, and implementation guidance that accelerates customer success.
  • Support strategic customer opportunities by providing architecture recommendations, technical evaluations, proof-of-concepts, and solution guidance.
  • Deliver technical presentations, workshops, training sessions, and customer education programs.
  • Collaborate with ecosystem partners and third-party solution providers to enable mutual customer success.
  • Provide field feedback to Product Management, Engineering, Documentation, and Software teams to influence future AMD products and tools.
  • Support new product introductions and help define best practices, design methodologies, and customer support strategies.
  • Contribute technical content including application notes, white papers, conference presentations, and technical articles.
PREFERRED EXPERIENCE
  • Experience working with FPGA, SoC, Adaptive Computing, embedded systems, or related semiconductor technologies.
  • Strong understanding of digital design methodologies utilizing VHDL, Verilog, or similar hardware description languages.
  • Familiarity with FPGA development flows, synthesis tools, implementation tools, and simulation environments.
  • Experience supporting customer designs through architecture definition, implementation, validation, and optimization.
  • Knowledge of FPGA, programmable logic, or SoC architectures and associated design considerations.
  • Experience with hardware and system-level debugging using industry-standard laboratory equipment and tools.
  • Understanding of timing analysis, timing closure methodologies, and performance optimization techniques.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills with the ability to explain complex technical concepts to diverse audiences.
  • Ability to manage multiple customer engagements and priorities in a fast-paced environment.
  • Experience collaborating with sales, technical, product management, and engineering organizations.
  • Passion for customer success and delivering outstanding technical support.

  • ARM-based architectures, development tools, and software ecosystems.
  • Software development experience using C, C++, OpenCL, OpenGL, or similar technologies.
  • Linux operating systems, scripting, and embedded software development.
  • Operating system internals, hardware interfaces, protocols, and subsystem design.
  • Experience with third-party compilers, debuggers, profilers, emulators, and development environments.
  • RF data converters, signal processing, sampling theory, and associated design methodologies.
  • Analog PCB design, signal integrity analysis, and simulation tools.
  • Power delivery and power distribution design concepts.
ACADEMIC CREDENTIALS
  • Bachelor's degree preferred in Electrical Engineering, Electronic Engineering, Computer Engineering, Computer Science, or a related technical discipline.
  • Master's degree or advanced technical qualifications are considered a plus.
  • Relevant FPGA, embedded systems, semiconductor, or software development certifications are desirable.
