platacard is seeking a Middle+ Software Engineer - Java/Kotlin to join our Identity or Communication Platform teams. You will build and maintain scalable backend services in Kotlin, optimize performance, and own key features in production.

You should have at least 3 years of experience with JVM languages and be comfortable with Micronaut, PostgreSQL, Redis, Kafka, and AWS. English at B1 level supports collaboration with an international team.

Qualifikationen

• Minimum of 3 years of experience in a similar position.
• Strong knowledge of one of the JVM languages (Java, Kotlin).
• Familiarity with Micronaut and the Spring ecosystem is welcome.
• Experience with OAuth2 is a plus.
• Ability to operate in a fast-paced, high-load platform team environment.

We're looking for a Middle+ Software Engineer - Java/Kotlin to join one of our teams: Identity or Communication Platform

As a Software Engineer, you'll participate in building and maintaining backend services using Kotlin, as well as designing, building, and maintaining scalable backend services. You'll help with optimization of existing systems to improve performance and reliability.

We're still in the early stages of our growth, so you'll be able to take real ownership, shape key features, direct impact in production.

Almost everything else depends on this domain working correctly, which makes the job both high-impact and genuinely hard: dozens of internal teams rely on us, requests may require upfront analysis and discovery, and a task that seems straightforward on paper can unveil fascinating architectural challenges once you dive in.

It's the kind of environment where priorities shift and incidents happen - we are looking for someone who can adapt quickly to changing contexts and confidently design solutions, rather than waiting for a fully-scoped plan.

What makes you a great fit:

• Minimum of 3 years of experience in a similar position
• Strong knowledge of one of the JVM languages (Java, Kotlin). Currently, we are using Kotlin, and familiarity with it will be an advantage.
• You have worked with Micronaut, PostgreSQL, Redis, Kafka
• If you're not familiar with Micronaut but work with Spring and its ecosystem — we're looking for you too
• Comfortable with ambiguity: you can take a vaguely described problem, figure out what's actually being asked, and design a reasonable solution yourself
• Prior experience in a platform team (rather than pure product development) or with critical high load products— is a strong green flag
• B1 or higher English level for effective communication with an international team

Bonus:

• Experience leading a non-trivial refactor, spotting architectural problems early, or designing systems in conditions of real uncertainty
• An interest in eventually working with Go is also a plus
