Delivery Hero in Berlin is seeking a Software Engineer II for the Quick Commerce Promo Cart team to help deliver amazing experiences globally. You will contribute to building a scalable platform extending beyond food to grocery items and more.

You will define software architecture, collaborate with engineers, product managers, and stakeholders, and deliver reliable, high-concurrency systems while embracing new languages and technologies.

Job Description

We are on the lookout for a Software Engineer II to join our Quick Commerce Promo Cart team on our journey to always deliver amazing experiences.

Be part of redefining how customers experience quick commerce. You'll help build technology that scales our non-food offerings, reaching new market segments and driving revenue growth. By innovating within our Quick Commerce Team, you'll make Delivery Hero the go-to platform for a broad range of products, helping us grow faster and deliver more value to customers around the world.

In this role

• You will build our next-generation platform to not only sell food to our hungry customers but also grocery items and many more.
• You will define software architecture, communicating effectively with engineers, product managers, partners, leaders, and a broad set of stakeholders.
• You don't shy away from building reliable, scalable systems with high concurrency and are always eager to learn new languages and technologies. Your decisions will make an impact since your ideas and efforts do matter.
• Eventually, you are not afraid to build global systems that are used by thousands of people and constantly drive for excellence.

Qualifications

• Golang expert in the context of distributed systems and services, with at least 1 year of experience.
• 3 years of experience in large-scale applications.
• 3 years of experience in working with agile methodologies.
• Experience in cloud platform hosting via AWS / GCP as well via terraform / cloud formation/helm.
• High code quality, automated testing, and other engineering best practices.
• Ability to make independent decisions and take ownership of them beyond deployment.

Nice to have

• Experience in E-Commerce
• Experience with implementing Restful, graphQL and gRPC services.
• Familiar with common CI/CD tools like Jenkins, Drone, spinnaker.
• Familiar with common monitoring / alerting / logging tools such as Grafana, Prometheus, Datadog, distributed tracing
• Building, maintaining & running a high traffic system in a microservice environment with kubernetes.
• Familiar with communication between microservices best practices.
• Experience in event-driven hexagonal architecture.
• Superior knowledge in relational databases (ACID, isolation & index types, storage engines) especially with PostgreSQL
• Knowledge of document-oriented databases (MongoDB, Couchbase, DynamoDB, Firestore).
