Zalando SE in Berlin is seeking a Software Engineer to join the Logistics Network Planning team. You will develop forecasting and planning software to optimize capacity and enable scalable decisions for Europe's logistics network.

You will create clean Python code, own the development lifecycle, and work with experts to resolve operational challenges and deliver milestones on time.

Qualifikationen

• 3+ years as a Software Engineer or similar role.
• Experience building ML models for forecasting/optimization.
• Proficiency in SQL and data warehouses, ETL design and pipelines.
• Experience with unit and integration testing and robust software delivery.
• Strong communication and ability to document technical work.

THE ROLE & THE TEAM

Join our dynamic Logistics Network Planning team, where you'll be at the forefront of shaping the future of Zalando's logistics operations. In this role, you'll have the opportunity to dive deep into complex network systems, working to optimize the network to ensure the smooth and efficient flow of millions of packages across Europe. Our team is committed to enhancing logistics forecasts that directly influence the efficiency and performance of all our warehouses and transport teams. By developing and implementing scalable forecasting and planning software, you'll play a crucial role in ensuring that our logistics operations are not only efficient but also adaptable to changing demands. Your work will have a tangible impact on how we manage capacity, allocate resources, and maintain the seamless delivery experience that our customers expect.

WHAT WE’D LOVE YOU TO DO (AND LOVE DOING)

• Develop and implement forecasting and planning software to enhance decision-making and optimise capacity allocation
• Create clean, efficient, and maintainable Python code for Logistics Network planning projects
• Take responsibility for the entire development lifecycle, including solution design, testing, implementation, and maintenance
• In close collaboration with subject matter experts, resolve operational challenges and assist in identifying appropriate solutions to raising issues.
• Communicate effectively with cross-functional teams to gather requirements, provide status updates, and deliver project milestones.

WE’D LOVE TO MEET YOU IF…

• 3+ years of experience as a Software Engineer. Ideally, involved in building machine learning models focused on forecasting, optimization or advanced planning
• Ability to ensure robust, scalable, and high-performance system
• Proficiency in SQL, relational data warehouses, ETL design and development, and pipeline orchestration.
• Experience with unit, integration, and end-to-end testing to ensure robust and reliable software solutions.
• Strong verbal and written communication skills to effectively interact with team members, stakeholders, and clients.
• Experience in technical documentation and creating user guides.
• Experience with Databricks.
• Must be actively using agentic development practices via tools like Claude, Copilot, etc.
