Zusammenfassung

Oxford Instruments Plasma Technology in Severn Beach, near Bristol, seeks a Software Engineer to contribute across the full software development lifecycle, developing, maintaining, and supporting software, firmware, and databases. You will work with the OIPT team on international projects and provide essential support to clients.

The role requires a degree in computing or related field and at least 2 years in software development, with C# .NET Core, WPF, C/C++, real-time control systems, PLCs

Qualifikationen

  • Degree in computing or related field.
  • Minimum 2 years of software development experience.
  • Proficiency in C# .NET Core and WPF.
  • C and C++ expertise for low-level and real-time development.
  • Familiarity with PLCs and ladder logic is desirable.
  • Experience with PowerShell scripts.
  • Exposure to machine learning and AI concepts.

Aufgaben

  • Develop and maintain software, firmware, and databases using various tools and languages.
  • Project management to ensure timely delivery of software projects.
  • Assist with machine issues during build and test phases.
  • Provide second-line global support for our field service engineers.
  • Engage with customers to understand needs and support new software implementations.
  • Contribute to sales process by answering technical questions with solutions.

We are excited to announce a permanent opening for a Software Engineer at our state-of-the-art facility in Severn Beach, Bristol. This is an excellent opportunity to be at the forefront of software development, as you will be actively involved in every phase of the software development lifecycle. Your expertise will not only be crucial in creating innovative solutions but also in providing essential support for OIPT software to clients and our dedicated OIPT team, including Process, Service, and Test Engineers, across international projects.

Education/Experience:
  • Degree level qualified in a computing or related field with a proven track record.
  • Minimum 2 years of experience in Software Development.
  • C# .NET Core and WPF framework.
  • C and C++ expertise for low-level and real-time development.
  • Desirable Experience with several network protocols, TCP/IP, UDP, Modbus etc.
  • Experience with PLC's and ladder logic.
  • Agile/Scrum Methodologies.
  • Familiarity with electrical and mechanical drawings.
  • Experience in writing PowerShell scripts.
  • Exposure to and knowledge of machine learning and other forms of AI.
Professional Skills/Abilities:
  • Strong communication and client-facing skills, capable of articulating complex topics to multidisciplinary colleagues.
  • Self-motivated and capable of independently driving technical investigations and finding solutions.
  • In-depth knowledge of Windows Software is an essential prerequisite, as is experience working on real-time control systems.
  • Knowledge of hardware interfacing is also desirable.
  • Computer literacy.
