Ingersoll Rand is seeking a Sewing Operator to operate or tend sewing machines at our Frederica, DE facility. This entry-level Level One role runs Monday–Friday, 7:00 AM–3:30 PM, with a formal skills evaluation determining progression.

You will sew, inspect, and assemble fabric components while applying basic math and English reading skills. A strong teamwork mindset and adherence to cGMP guidelines are required for quality product fabrication.

Qualifikationen

• Basic sewing skills and ability to pass a sewing aptitude evaluation.

• Sew materials by hand and/or sewing machine to join, gather, reinforce, or decorate materials or fabricated articles
• Use specialized automatic or semi-automatic sewing equipment and other equipment as required to fabricate product
• Cut materials according to specifications, including cutting excess material or thread from finished product using a blade, scissors, or hot knife
• Position and mark patterns on materials to prepare for sewing; fold or fit materials together for machine or hand sewing
• Position materials through feed rollers and guides, maneuvering under the sewing machine presser foot and needle during operation
• Mount attachments, change needles, thread the machine, set up the bobbin, and adjust machine guides according to specifications
• Monitor machine operation to detect problems such as defective stitching, thread breaks, or malfunction; examine and measure finished articles using a ruler to verify conformance to standards
• Responsible for the quality and accuracy of product fabrication per work instructions and/or drawings, and for adherence to current Good Manufacturing Practices (cGMP)

Job Overview

We are seeking a Sewing Operator to operate or tend sewing machines to join, reinforce, decorate, or perform related sewing operations in the manufacture of our products. This is an entry‑level (Level One) position on our Monday–Friday, 7:00 AM – 3:30 PM shift at our non‑union Frederica, DE facility. A formal skills evaluation determines progression to the next level; time in position is not necessarily a factor in promotion.

Requirements

• Able to work on government contracts directly or access shared data resources (authorized to work in the U.S.)
• High school diploma or equivalent, e.g. GED
• Able to effectively communicate in English (read, write, speak)
• Knowledgeable of basic math and English measurement, measurements can be as small as 1/32nd(versus metric)
• Demonstrated communication and team collaboration skills
• Basic sewing skills and ability to successfully pass ILC Dover sewing aptitude evaluation
• Able to manage basic sewing tasks; may require guidance and assistance.
• Must complete a skills evaluation period to determine skill level going forward; up to 12 months in a training period is possible.

• Regularly works near moving mechanical parts and is frequently exposed to heat (non‑weather); occasional exposure to toxic or caustic chemicals; moderate noise levels
• Regularly required to stand, use hands to finger/handle/feel, reach with hands and arms, and talk or hear; frequently required to walk, sit, climb or balance, and stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl
• Able to regularly lift/move up to 20 lbs, frequently up to 30 lbs, and occasionally up to 50 lbs
• Vision abilities required include close vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus
