Zusammenfassung

Leica Biosystems is seeking a Digital Technologies Service Technician in Nußloch, Germany, to set up, operate, and maintain digital pathology demonstration systems for customer demonstrations, training and workflow simulations.

The role requires IT/engineering background with strong troubleshooting across electromechanical systems and software, plus fluent English and German. On-site work with travel potential supports the European Demonstration Centre.

Qualifikationen

  • IT or engineering associate degree or equivalent technical experience.
  • Strong troubleshooting across electromechanical systems, optics, imaging platforms, and software.
  • Knowledge of PC hardware, Windows and Linux OS, networking, software installation, and connectivity.
  • Fluent in English and German for customer communications.

Aufgaben

  • Set up and operate digital pathology demonstration systems for demos, training, and simulations.
  • Prepare, inspect, verify and troubleshoot demo assets according to workshop priorities.
  • Manage configuration, calibration, verification, upgrades and readiness checks for hardware, software and IT components.
  • Diagnose and resolve issues across scanners, imaging platforms, electromechanical systems, software and network components.
  • Complete maintenance and quality verification activities per Leica standards.
  • Collaborate with workshop, sales, applications, product specialists and service teams to deliver a reliable demo experience.

The Digital Technology Technician for Leica Biosystems is responsible for the technical setup, operation, maintenance and optimisation of digital pathology demonstration systems within the European Demonstration Centre in Nussloch. The role ensures that demo environments are technically ready, reliable and prepared to support customer demonstrations, training sessions, workflow simulations and internal evaluations.

TheService Engineer Digital Technologies (f/m/d)is responsiblefor conducting service, repair and/or installation of products or IT solutions at customer site, including electrical and mechanical testing, in accordance with maintenance contracts.

This position is part of the EMEA Customer Excellence organisation and will be based on site at the Commercial Workshop and European Demonstration Centre in Nussloch, Germany. You will report to the Commercial Workshop Team Leader, working as part of the workshop team that prepares, inspects, maintains and repairs demonstration, loan and field-returned Leica Biosystems equipment.

You will work closely with the Commercial Workshop Team Leader, Service, Applications, Digital Pathology, Training and support teams to ensure digital pathology demo assets are ready, compliant and able to deliver a high-quality customer experience. In this role, you will have the opportunity to:
  • Set up, operate, maintain and optimise digital pathology demonstration systems to support customer demonstrations, training activities and workflow simulations.
  • Prepare, inspect, verify and troubleshoot demo assets in line with workshop priorities set by the Commercial Workshop Team Leader.
  • Manage configuration, calibration, verification, upgrades and readiness checks for digital pathology hardware, software and associated IT components.
  • Diagnose and resolve technical issues across scanners, imaging platforms, electromechanical systems, software and network-connected components.
  • Complete maintenance, repair, modification and quality verification activities in line with Leica Biosystems standards and applicable quality requirements.
  • Partner with workshop colleagues, sales, applications, product specialists and service teams to deliver a reliable and compelling demo experience.
The essential requirements of the job include:
  • IT or engineering experience with an associate degree, or equivalent technical work experience.
  • Strong technical troubleshooting capability across electromechanical systems, optics, imaging platforms, and software.
  • Knowledge of PC hardware, Windows and Linux operating systems, networking principles, software installation, and system connectivity.
  • Ability to communicate clearly with technical and non-technical audiences and collaborate effectively across international teams.
  • Fluent English and German language capability with the ability to communicate with customers professionally.
It would be a plus if you also possess:
  • Experience diagnosing, repairing, and maintaining digital pathology instruments or similar scientific and clinical instrumentation.
  • Experience working in a regulated environment with ISO, FDA, or similar quality requirements.
  • A strong customer-centric mindset and interest in continuous improvement, system readiness, and service efficiency.
Travel, work arrangement, and physical/environment requirements:
  • Primary work location is Nussloch, Germany, supporting the Commercial Workshop and European Demonstration Centre.
  • Up to 25% travel within Europe may be required to support field service, customer demonstrations, training or cross-functional technical activities. International travel to North America is potentially required at least within the training period.
  • Ability to work in a workshop and technical service environment, including safe handling, movement and preparation of Leica Biosystems equipment.

Awareness of applicable quality, safety and compliance requirements relevant to medical device service, digital pathology systems and workshop operations.
