Cloudflare in Lisbon is seeking an experienced Network Automation Engineer to join our Network Engineering Team. You will build software solutions that improve network resilience and reduce operational toil across a massively growing global network.

You will work on tools, infrastructure and services with a focus on elegant, maintainable designs and leverage AI assistants to streamline daily workflows while collaborating with product and operations teams worldwide.

Qualifikationen

• BA/BS in Computer Science or equivalent experience.
• 6+ years of SRE, DevOps or Software Engineering experience.
• Deep understanding of Linux internals and containerization (Docker, Kubernetes).
• IaC tools and CI/CD pipeline automation experience.
• Proficient in Python or Golang.
• Hands-on observability with Prometheus, Grafana, tracing and metrics-driven alerting.
• Systems design for reliable distributed systems.
• Experience working with AI assistants or automated tools to augment delivery.

About the Department

Cloudflare's Network Engineering Team builds and runs the infrastructure that runs our software. The Engineering Team is split into two groups: one handles product development and the other handles operations. Product development covers both new features and functionality and scaling our existing software to meet the challenges of a massively growing customer base. The operations team handles one of the world's largest networks with data centers in 190 cities worldwide and a couple of large specialized data centers for internal needs.

About the role

Cloudflare operates a large global network spanning hundreds of cities (data centers). You will join a team of talented network automation engineers who are building software solutions to improve network resilience and reduce engineering operational toil.

In this role, you will work on a range of tools, infrastructure and services - new and existing - with an aim to elegantly and efficiently solve problems and deliver practical, maintainable and scalable solutions. Leverage AI tools and automated assistants to streamline daily workflows.

Desirable Skills, Knowledge And Experience

• BA/BS in Computer Science or equivalent experience
• 6+ years of SRE, DevOps or Software Engineering experience.
• Distributed Systems & Infrastructure - deep understanding of modern Linux internals, containerization (Docker, Kubernetes).
• Infrastructure as Code & Automation: Experience with IaC tools and CI/CD pipeline automation.
• Proficient in programming languages like Python or Golang.
• Observability & Telemetry - hands on experience with Prometheus, Grafana, distributed tracing and metrics- driven alerting.
• Systems Design - proven track record of designing reliable, fault-tolerant distributed systems.
• Demonstrated experience working alongside AI assistants or automated tools to augment task execution and project delivery

Bonus Points:

• Knowledge of Networking engineering, with competencies in Layer 2 and Layer 3 protocols and network APIs (gRPC/gNMI, NETCONF).
• Experience working with configuration management frameworks: Ansible, Chef, Saltstack.
• Experience with declarative configuration management and state-reconciliation systems.
• Experience managing internal and/or external customer requirements and expectations

Compensation

• For Portugal based hires: Estimated annual salary is between €66,000 - €91,000.

• This role is eligible to participate in Cloudflare's equity plan.
