AboutYou GmbH is seeking a data platform engineer to own and evolve our data platform built on Dagster, dbt, AWS ECS and BigQuery. You will design and implement end-to-end data pipelines that serve multiple business units and create reliable data products for analytics teams.

You will maintain core ELT pipelines and deliver critical reports for executive decision-making, while promoting engineering best practices, CI/CD, and robust testing across data workflows.

• Strong background in data engineering or software engineering for high-volume pipelines.

• Own and advance the data platform using Dagster, dbt, AWS ECS and GCP BigQuery.
• Maintain and optimize core ELT pipelines as a foundation for data teams.
• Deliver and support the most critical reports used for executive decisions; enable other teams with tooling and checks.
• Apply software engineering fundamentals (CI/CD, testing, best practices) to data engineering.

Data Platform Ownership: Build, maintain, and drive the transition to our new Data Platform (Dagster, dbt, AWS ECS, and GCP GBQ). You will build a product that acts as a foundation for other data teams, improving their efficiency through custom-made tooling, monitoring, data-checks, connectors, cost controlling, testing, CI/CD, cataloging, etc.

Core-ELT Pipelines: Maintain and optimize the biggest and most fundamental pipelines in the company.

Core-Reports Delivery: Take responsibility for the most critical reports in the company, which serve as the foundation for executive board decisions and act as a base for data teams in other departments.

Hands‑on experience in Data Engineering or Software Engineering, particularly with high‑volume, business‑critical pipelines.

Experience maintaining and building modern data platforms.

Modern data platform experience (we use Dagster, dbt, BigQuery, and AWS ECS). If you've built similar setups with equivalent tools, your skills will transfer easily.

Strong software engineering fundamentals (CI/CD, testing, best practices, design patterns) applied to data engineering.

Expert‑level SQL and Python skills.

Knowledge of infrastructure setups (docker, terraform/cloudformation).

You're pragmatic and can tell when the best‑practice version is worth another week and when it's time to just ship.

You communicate effectively, grasp complex processes easily and communicate concisely with diverse stakeholders (fluent in English), cutting through noise to focus on what matters.
